The Station (Hotel) — Hotel in London

My partner and I are locals to the area but had to move out of our home and so decided to stay in the station hotel for a week. We knew and loved the pub but this was our first experience staying in the hotel - it was absolutely ideal. We’ve never slept so well (we are now trying to buy the same mattress for home) the rain shower is envious. Peaceful, quiet beautifully clean and cared for. Everything is thought of - There’s a fan for the summer and a heater for the winter and an extra blanket laid out if the weather turned cold - just little thoughtful everyday touches. The staff are so friendly and there is 24 hour special guest access to the hotel. The food (and breakfast especially) was delicious. Even though this is the heart and hub of Hither Green - when you stay in the rooms you can’t hear a peep. We have visited the Station Hotel several times (and in several rooms) as it is extremely convenient for our needs. The staff are very friendly and efficient and rooms comfortable but there are some niggles. Lighting in the bathrooms is very poor and the mirror - for me at least - too far away. A separate shaving mirror would help. There are also no venetian blinds and/or curtains, just the one large material Roman blind which often does not totally cover the double windows. Hence, in our room on this trip, it was not possible to block out the street lighting outside which didn't go out until very early the next morning. In other rooms, which face the flats opposite, also means that you are quite exposed in the morning when raising the blind for light! I have mentioned this before but we left early the next day and the staff were not yet there to pass on...

I’m giving this five stars because of the sheer passion that comes out in all the little touches such as free mini-brownies with the tea-making set, A good selection of quality tea, proper cofffee maker; great bedroom decor, helpful staff, nice shower et cetera. In fact the only criticism would be that the shower glass is so clean that there is a real danger of walking into it. Suggestion: put some sort of logo on the glass to stop that happening! Also shower base is so new and clean that its a bit slippery. suggestion: maybe put some sort of shower mat there or make it available.

With regard to the breakfast, I think it could have been explained better. I thought “I’ll go for continental” but found that continental and full English are the same price or rather the one price includes everything. £12.50. Not bad but I pigged out on pastries before...
