I've been going to The Orchard for the last 4-5 years and 90% of the time I've left with the same feeling.... the food is ok, but why on earth does it take soooooo long to A) be served B) the food to arrive. It is completely mystifying how you can have what seems to be at least 6 servers and for it to take over 15 mintues from being shown to a table to then be asked 'what would you like to drink?'. Today for me was the last straw 35 minutes for our full Englishs to arrive at the table, 35 minutes!?! How?!? I don't claim to understand how to run an establishment such as The Ochard, but I have worked in a few. Most times it seems I have to deal with at least 3 different servers, and I feel this is where the problems lay. That is just my opinion. And never any check backs, ever. Simple things like, 'can I get you anything else?' as your taking the last plates away. Instead you get the plates taken away by one person and ask them to bring the bill (which they don't) and then another server appears to offer dessert (after breakfast....) and ask them as well for the bill. Do the staff not talk to eachother?

Needless to say I will be taking my cash elsewhere, because mainly there probably is someone else that deserves it. I wouldn't normally write this kind of thing, but it has been a...

We visited Ellary's for the first time recently, having always really enjoyed visiting in its former guise as The Orchard. Absolutely loved the experience. Ellary's maintains all the brilliant things that made The Orchard so special: the great staff, excellent food, wide range of booze and all round great vibe, but has now had a refurb and added more room with different areas, making it a more casual and flexible space for just drinks or dining. The menu is similar, maintaing many of our favourites (calamari, fritters, padron peppers, steak, etc) and had plenty on offer to satisfy a family of 5, including a range of (some vegan) small plates, kid-friendly options and larger meals. Special mention for the pumpkin fritters, which were so good we had to order twice. Eating out these days can be quite eye watering in terms of cost, but the menu offers good value, particularly when you consider the quality of food they serve. The staff were excellent - attentive, knowledgeable and friendly- and the all round good energy of the place, begins with owners Ed and Emily, who deserve so much credit for opening such a brilliant venue that the whole...

This was my first time at this restaurant. I found it as I've waked pass many times and this evening I decided to have a meal there and treat myself. It was a real treat the meal was excellent in my opinion. I had steak which was very well seasoned and very tender. A glass of malbac helped to lubricant and enhanced the steak. Dessert was the ginger pudding with sauce. The ginger was strong just the way I like it and it was almost for me the best part of the meal. The other people in the restaurant seamed to be enjoying there time and meals to, some more than louder than others. A really mixed range of ages and the layout of the restaurant was very laid back with staff that seamed really efficient and not intrusive. Found out later when I got home its also a favorite place of my stepson and his fiancé. Will visit again maybe...

Just off the main road this bar has a quirky and somewhat homely feel with a variety of spaces and an open-air feel with full width french doors. Seating includes Moroccan style benches, sofas, pub tables and then more restaurant like table dining behind the library/aquarium divider. The kitchen is open and directly behind the bar in the back left corner. It can be a little unclear where to order but the staff are all really friendly and welcoming. Food is gastro-pub burger + fancy vegetarian with hand cut chips feeling like they were hewn from a baked potato. Overall a good place for meeting friends and perhaps a date.

Everything about this place is to a superlative! The atmosphere is perfect! Great music, at the right volume, cozy and perfect interior design. Made me feel at home! The food is perfect! Chose the Mackerel and was not disappointed, with the pear dessert that simply tickled all the taste buds. Cocktails were extremely tasty too, ended up trying about 6 of them! And the staff…I cannot compliment them enough! Very attentive, joyful and friendly, which made me feel very comfortable! I will definitely return here and for sure it will be more than once!

The service was excellent and our server was joyful and helped when we were indecisive. The quality of food was great. However, the flavour combinations were not to my personal liking. The calamari itself was tasty but I think that the teriyaki sauce was too sweet for the pairing. The slow cooked Tamworth pork and pancetta ragu was rich and warming. Again, quite a sweet profile to my liking. The blood orange margarita was delicious and refreshing.
