We recently had the pleasure of hosting our daughter’s engagement lunch at Five Fingers restaurant, and they truly exceeded our expectations! Coming from the United States, we had never experienced South Indian food of this caliber before—it was simply outstanding.

The customized lunch buffet was an absolute delight, featuring authentic flavors and perfectly balanced seasoning that brought back the essence of home. Every dish—from the avial, kootu, poriyal, and vegetable pulao to the richly flavored arachuvitta sambar and the irresistibly delicious pineapple kesari—was crafted with great care using high-quality ingredients. As a special touch, guests were offered a choice between filter coffee and masala chai. I opted for the filter coffee, which was exceptional, while my husband, who chose the masala chai, had nothing but praise for it.

Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the variety and taste of the spread. The owner, Mr. Vimal, was incredibly professional and went above and beyond to ensure everything was seamless. If you’re looking for outstanding South Indian cuisine for an event or just to enjoy a meal with your friends & family Five Fingers is the perfect choice. Highly...

Five Fingers is an exceptional Indian Restaurant!

Beyond the modest exterior decor, Five Fingers distinguishes itself from the usual high street Indian restaurant on a number of levels.

The food is fresh, distinctive and delicious. The menu is South Indian and includes many excellent specials and starters that you simply won't find elsewhere, including palak and kale papdi chaat and chicken 65 as well as interesting and delicious twists on staples such as onion pakora. Even their poppadoms are prepared and served in a distinctive way.

An entire page of the menu is devoted to their dosas including an enourmous plain dosa, and others made with paneer or onion.

The main dishes include old-school favourites such as butter chicken, madras, tandoori and biryani - all of which are exceptional.

The staff are also great. The host Vimal is welcoming, relaxed, and knowledgable and passionate about the food and the service.

I've been a few times now and most recently made a group booking for my birthday. The combination of the warm welcome and great food made it a lovely occassion!

Thanks Vimal and team - see you...

I visited this amazing Indian restaurant with my wife and two daughters, all the way from Greece, and let me tell you, it was an unforgettable experience! This was our first time trying Indian cuisine, and Punm, the wonderful lady who looked after us, made it extra special. She understood that we were new to this type of food and took the time to explain the dishes, their flavors, and the rich culture behind them.

Throughout the meal, she ensured we were comfortable and having a great time. When one of my daughters found the food a bit too spicy, Punm quickly brought us lasi to cool things down—it was absolutely delicious!

We ordered Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, Peshwari Naan, and Saffron Rice, and every single dish was bursting with flavor. The balance of spices, creaminess, and sweetness was incredible, leaving us completely satisfied.

The service, the hospitality, and the food all exceeded our expectations. This was not just a meal but a delightful cultural experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to try authentic...

Five Fingers in Dalston is a delightful gem for South Indian cuisine enthusiasts. Located at 6 Kingsland High Street, this cozy and vibrant eatery offers an authentic dining experience that captures the essence of Indian flavors. Samoosa Chat, A must-try starter, which is a burst of tangy and spicy flavors.it offers a refreshing and authentic taste of Indian street food. The masala dosa stands out with its crispy rice and urad dal crepe encasing a flavorful potato filling. Served with traditional chutneys and sambar, it's a dish that brings comfort and satisfaction . The staff at Five Fingers contribute significantly to the welcoming atmosphere. In particular, Anuja is noted for her warm and attentive approach, ensuring guests feel at home from the moment they arrive. Her friendly demeanor and knowledge about the menu enhance the overall dining experience.

I came to Five fingers with a friend and we had the soft shell crab, aloo tikki, paneer butter masala and saffron pilau rice . The aloo tikki was very delicious and probably my favourite thing that we ordered. The paneer butter masala had a nice flavour in regards to the curry but the paneer itself wasn’t really the best tasting. I’ve had paneer a lot and the one here was just very bland like it just didn’t have the paneer taste which is hard to explain. The saffron pilau rice and roti were both nice . I also wasn’t a huge fan of the soft shell crab either. We also ordered the strawberry &mint mocktail and the mango & passionfruit mocktail and neither of them were nice. It was way too sweet and was hard to drink. However, service was great, all the staff were very friendly . If I could, I would rate this restaurant a 3.5.

Great place to eat, the staff were very friendly, they played authentic Indian music and the restaurant was warm on a cold evening. They had a good selection on of Indian beers but my wife wasn’t so keen on the red wine she had The curry was real tasty, and the saffron rice was perfectly cooked too. The only thing that wasn’t so great, and this wouldn’t stop me visiting again, was the naan bread which wasn’t what I have experienced at many other Indian restaurants, a little flat and lacked that softness you normally get. The toilets were clean but could do with upgrading. Overall a very enjoyable visit. đŸ‘đŸ»
