Absolutely disgusted with the booking process but these 4 stars go to Jay Potter who was our HERO!
I had won an instagram competition for a free brunch and after numerous emails back and forth with the Cocktail Club team, they had booked me in for a free brunch for 6 people (value £300). My booking experience was terrible - After weeks of emailing (because no one answered the phone to HQ) We were booking in at Barrio bar, however was told just 20 minutes before our brunch (booked of 1.30pm) to go to Old Street Cocktail Club, as we originally wanted to go there. I was still waiting for a confirmation email for the Cocktail club as we'd gotten up and left Barrio Bar for and was told to go to Old Street at 2pm for my free brunch. Our group arrived and the bar was CLOSED. It didn't open until 3pm, and so when I emailed the booking team they said there had been a glitch and there was no brunches that day. We could only go in and use the winnings on food and drink.
I was still hopeful, so waited till 3pm for opening and when we got there, we found out that 1) Old Street does not and has never hosted brunches. So who ever I was emailing had no idea what she was doing 2) They didn't sell food. I was FUMING. So I was expected to use my £300 voucher on drinks alone.
HOWEVER... Jay swooped in and saved the day. Not only did he make sure my group was comfortable, but said our drinks were on the house for the day and we could stay as long as we'd like. He had a bottle of prosseco with us within 5 minutes and some shots. He also made whatever cocktails we asked for. On top of this, he even tried to get us our booking back with Barrio Bar (as we hadn't eaten). Constant communication, he even apologies when he couldn't get us in last minute and said to contacrt him in the new year so that we can use our free brunch properly. He kept checking in on us and even let us use the photo booth for free. He asked what music we'd like played, and 5 hours later he has us dancing on the bar, standing on chairs and dancing around. Jay really made up for the whole experience.
The reason Jay's service meant so much to me is that what he didn't know - was that we were our celebrating the birthday our our recently deceased friend. So you can imagine the disappointment we were feeling when everything went to sh*t. Without knowing the circumstances, Jay turned our day around and we celebrated exactly how we wanted to, and how our friend would have wanted us to (she was a party animal).
Jay if you're reading this, please continue to provide such incredible service with the understanding and accommodating attitude you have. You never know what's going on in people's lives and you made our day. I couldn't thank you enough and I really hope you get the recognition and...

As we proceeded to the door he wanted to clearly and firmly let us know that we would not be allowed in as the establishment was fully booked. We stood to the side and waited for our 4 white friends to catch up with us to make another plan of where to go.
As they approached the door, they weren't stopped or told that the place was full they simply just walked in. Our friend told the security man "oh those girls are with us" his facial expression changed to a clean sign of annoyance to the fact that he would have to let these two "Black girls in"
As we proceeded downstairs not only was we shocked to find the place half empty we ended up seeing multiple tables with no sign of it being "fully booked" or any reserved signs on the table. I had a quick scan of the crowd to find out that we were the only black people in the small crowd. Which then it dawned on me that this man has been using his discrimination and power to control the crowd that enters into LCC.
I was utterly frustrated and appalled and just wanted to get out of there straight away, there was no way I was going to spend my money here.
We went outside and told him that we know what he's been doing and that his racism is absolutely disgusting and Instead of being shocked at being called a racist (which most people who are not racist, would be sooo offended) he just strugged his shoulders like he knew he had been caught but it doesn't matter because nothing would ever happen to him.
DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE RACISM IN YOUR COMPANY LCC! ITS A...
Read moreCame here for my birthday and had an awful time. The service was terrible. First I came in and got told I didn’t have a booking and had to prove on my email that I did, and the lady realised she was looking at the wrong page. Fair enough. But the people making the drinks was what made my experience so bad. I’m not exaggerating when I’m saying it took 20 minutes to order one drink, and there was only one other person ordering at the same time… it was not busy at all. And there were three people behind the bar. I asked one guy if I could order and he said I’d have to speak to the other two. Ordered with another guy and he pointed to the girl, so I went to order with her. She’d take my order but then go do something else and take somebody else’s order and start making their drink and 3 more and then forget about mine. Then I’d ask her about my drink and she’d ask me what it was again. I had to remind her 3 times about one of my drinks. My friend ordered two shots and the lady put the shot glasses on the table but it took her about 8 minutes to pour anything in them. Three of my friends went up to order, 20 minutes later they came back with no drinks. They said they gave up as it was so difficult communicating with the bartenders even though no other people were there. Furthermore, when the lady took us to our table, there were people at it already and she kicked them out but all their drinks and dirty glasses were left on the table for us to sit with. I’m really disappointed because the vibe itself was...
