I have been to this brewery a couple of times for friends birthdays and it became well known amongst us as a great space to book events. Their "Greenhouse" room has a pool table and is more private and secluded from the main bar.
I recently reached out to them way ahead of time as I wanted to book some tables in the Greenhouse for around 30-37 people for my birthday. They got back to me confirming there was availability and that we were booked in (I even received an email confirmation). After I had informed them of arrival time etc their response became quiet. I started to feel anxious and concerned and then a couple of days later they emailed to say they had received a better booking offer for that room and would have to move our large group to the main bar.
I have been to the main bar before, it is loud, has no pool table, is not private and secluded - so basically their alternative offer was no where near what I had booked with them. Now it is a couple of weeks until my birthday and I am left stressed and worried about where I am going to host 35 people on such short notice.
I understand that for business they want to prioritise larger bookings, but don't tell people you have availability, book them in and then mess them over when you find something better. Totally unreliable and I will not be coming back here anytime soon.
Save yourself the anxiety and...

Lovely little place tucked under one of the rail arches, they carry their own (ever-expanding) lines of beer plus a number of nice guest beers on tap, plus more in bottles. They've also got a nice range of bourbons as well if that's your preference. Show up later on a weekend night to see it heaving but if you want a nice chilled out chat with some people who are really enthusiastic about what they make, show up on a Saturday afternoon and grab a couple of pints. If you're lucky Pete (one of the founders) might be in with his dog, who is adorable but kind of doesn't care about you (unless...
Read moreForest Road offers good, reasonably priced beer and with a pretty cool railway arch setting. However, it has only one toilet, which can be a challenge, and it's either very busy or completely empty every time I've visited. The staff aren't very friendly and often seem aloof or inexperienced. The most recently experience saw us book and pay for a table for 12 to watch the Euros, but upon arrival, we were given the worst table because they had a "private event" that wasn't advertised, making it difficult to see the TV. The attitude we encountered was very much 'so what?' It's a shame because the beer is great...
