Have been visiting this place regularly at Bang Bang food hall right opposite my place and still think that their roast meat is the best in town.
Was here for dinner with some friends on a Wednesday night and thankfully it wasn't too busy. Usually during the weekends you would have to wait at least 30-60 minutes to get seated.
We went with the Peking duck (half size), aubergine and minced pork in hot clay pot, stir fry morning glory in beancurd paste, char siu and pork belly cooked with preserved vegetables and then 3 portions of egg fried rice on the side. Everything was great, especially the char siu for me - so flavourful and juicy and addictive! My friends really enjoyed the Peking duck with the pancakes, hoisin sauce and veggies. And the aubergine with minced pork in clay pot was another winner for us all. We all agreed that the pork belly cooked with preserved vegetables was the least favourite, the flavour just wasn't there because they didn't use enough preserved vegetables to make the stew so it's rather disappointing. Stir fry morning glory was good but don't think my friend enjoyed the beancurd paste much. Between the 4 of us we ordered 5 dishes and had some leftovers so the portions were definitely generous, especially the egg fried rice given how the staff advised us to go for 3 portions to share amongst us 4. We each paid £28.80 which was reasonable right in the centre of Chinatown.
Service was actually surprisingly above my expectations as i know how Cantonese places tend to not care too much about customers and just want people to eat and go so they can serve as many as they can each day. As someone from Hong Kong who knows this I was therefore impressed with how nice the staff were. This place will forever be one of my top 3 Cantonese restaurants in London and I know for sure I will come...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI strongly urge anyone considering Four Seasons on Gerrard Street to think twice before dining here.
Within minutes of being seated at a very tight table for 5 making it very uncomfortable to sit with other diners. A staff member forcibly pulled our table while we were still sitting, without asking for permission. This was done purely to squeeze in another table, making our space even tighter and more uncomfortable and not even possible to sit in the space we had been given. When we objected, we were met with complete indifference. Instead of addressing our concerns, the staff rudely dismissed us and insisted they didn't care, openly prioritising table turnover over customer experience. To make matters worse, they began speaking about us in Chinese right in front of us, with a tone that was unmistakably condescending and disrespectful.
This restaurant operates with zero regard for customer comfort or respect, treating diners as mere inconveniences in their pursuit to pack in more tables for profit. The staff is aggressively rude, physically intrusive, and dismissive of customer concerns, making for one of the most humiliating dining experiences I've ever endured.
Trust me, there are far better Chinese restaurants in Chinatown that value their customers and provide a far more enjoyable dining experience. Avoid this place unless you want to be treated with disrespect, crammed into an uncomfortably tight space, and made to feel like an inconvenience rather than a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis restaurant has the most ridiculously incompetent door staff Iāve ever encountered. Lunch at 12:10 pm today. Had a table with family members already seated upstairs. Stopped by a senior male front staff/waiter who very confidently told us that heās checked and itās impossible that they are upstairs, and suggested they might be in the restaurant (little four seasons) next door. Thanked him for his suggestion and carried a pram up the other restaurant and didnāt see anyone there. I went back to the original restaurant, went upstairs, and spotted my family seated in a table. Went downstairs and motioned my wife to go up. The same head waiter/ front staff appeared out of nowhere and blocked the entrance. Instead of apologizing for his mistake, he arrogantly repeated that my family was not upstairs and I must have been mistaken. Asked again how many people were in the booking. After exasperatedly explaining that I literally just saw them with my own eyes, he didnāt appear to believe me, and thought I must be joking. Talking to a brick wall would probably get a better result. Ignored him, brushed him aside and went upstairs to the table anyway. Heard him berating me behind my back for my ābad attitudeā. Whether itās dementia, lack of training, or an employee sabotaging the reputation of his own restaurant, we...
