Bad Xiao Long Bao, Bad, really bad ! ❌

Ok, fool me one shame on you, but too bad, I let them fool me twice. I was looking for dumplings, same as last time, I didn’t pick another places bcos a bit far from Soho.

When I look at the menu I changed my mind, because they called themselves Dumplings Place but not much choices of dumplings!

So again, I had to change my mind , ok, let’s give their Xiao Long Bao one last chance , and the normal one is £8.5, the grab meat one just plus a bit , £9.8. And I order the easiest veggie salad “Cold Cucumber with garlic and vinegar “

Here is how bad the Crab Meat Xiao Long Bao was.

Temperature ❌ it’s not even warm, it should be steamy hot ! No, seems that it has been sitting there for a while.

The warp ❌ the best wrap must be so thin , nearly transparent, but didn’t expect too high standard here, still, the wrap here is thicker than their skin warp , shameful to serve XLB like this bad, should have threw it away or threw the chef away , bad !

The soup juice ❌ the main selling point of Xiao Long Bao is the hot lips burning soup juice inside when you eat them, their XLB are dryer than their grandma, shame ! Bad !

The crab meat ❌ I asked and showed to the waitress where is the crab meat ? She didn’t even try to explain, just “yes yes we put crab meat inside “ , I didn’t taste any and didn’t see any ! Shame !

The size❌ XLB is supposed to be bumping round shape, look at those , they look like they been placing in desert for months ! Bad bad bad .

If you don’t have more than 10 choices of dumplings, don’t named yourself a dumplings place, if you can’t make a basic standard of XLB, just erase it from the menu !

The cucumber were so big they didn’t even chop well , why don’t you just cut half and let the customers chew it themselves?

If Chinese foods and restaurant need to keep modifying and upgrading this kind of restaurant should be eliminated !!

Don’t go, fool me...

In the heart of London's vibrant Chinatown, Beijing Dumpling is a beacon for those seeking authentic and delectable Chinese cuisine. With its simple storefront and bustling atmosphere, it's a place where generations have gathered to savour the art of the dumplings.

As you enter, the aroma of steaming dough and savory fillings hits you like a warm embrace. The open kitchen allows you to witness the meticulous craftsmanship behind each dumpling, from the delicate pinching of the dough to the generous dollops of filling. The sight of bamboo steamers brimming with these little parcels of goodness is enough to make your mouth water.

The menu is a veritable ode to the dumpling, offering a plethora of options to tantalize your taste buds. We opted for a selection of dumplings, and they did not disappoint. The thin, translucent dough yielded to reveal a juicy filling, seasoned to perfection with subtle Asian flavours. Each dumpling was a harmonious explosion of flavours and textures, a testament to the skill and care put into every fold.

The atmosphere at Beijing Dumpling is as authentic as the food itself. The clatter of chopsticks, the murmur of conversation, and the warm buzz of activity all contribute to a lively and genuine dining experience. The friendly staff adds to the charm, always willing to offer recommendations and answer any questions about the menu.

If you're looking for a taste of yummy dumplings in London, then try out Beijing Dumpling. The delicious dumplings, the enticing menu, and the vibrant atmosphere make it a true Chinatown gem. Just be prepared to share a table, as this is a place meant for communal dining and shared...

My comment for this restaurant is more than critical. We visit a group of people in June this year Beijing Dumpling Chinese Restaurant in chinatown London with the worst experience in my entire life with catastrophic kitchen everything was afoul and old food. I was ordering sour cream soup it came with prawns and then I returned back with the idea I want cream soup no another soup with prawns. What they did is they bring me the same soup just pick up the prawns from there. It was insane what they did. After that couple of the dishes were super dry watery the all presentation was very poor. I decided to see the manager of the restaurant to explain to him what is happening exactly here. I start to spoke with him very gently and quietly to be able to not another tables near us hearing what is going on, my point was still to not shame them in front of everyone inside. When I told him everything he started to protect his staff and shouted to me and handshake, because he get nervous after my complaint. After us another tables start to complain about the food. What they serve to us definitely even it will be rejected from the animals. Obviously that we never gonna visit that place again. We paid everything of the end, but I reject to pay the service charge which was still there after everything what happen. All the situation was insane just. So guys if you don't wanna stay hungry still and paying money for nothing I recommend you to not go there if it's...

Pretty authentic food in Chinatown! Generous portion sizes, and good wok hei in all the dishes. We ordered the mixed seafood ho fun, crispy seafood noodles (this was top tier), fried fish slices in sweet and sour/peking (?) sauce, pork and crab XLB, pan fried dumplings, and salt and pepper tofu. I would definitely recommend the noodle dishes, and surprisingly the fried fish slices - the sauce they were coated in was perfectly sweet and tangy. But next time we’ll ask for the sauce separate, as the fish gets soggy really quickly otherwise. The salt and pepper tofu was excellent value for the amount that you get. We have had better XLB elsewhere, but these were passable. The dough is a bit thicker than normal, and the filling is not as soupy as I’d like but taste wise they were completely fine. Same with the pan fried dumplings, a little too thick, but since these were pan fried it was understandable. Service was efficient and friendly. They even offer to top up your tap water when you’re running low (this is a first for a Chinese restaurant lol). FYI we over ordered but they provide takeaway boxes so you don’t have to waste food :) When we left, there was a pretty long queue so make sure you book ahead!
