I recently visited the restaurant last Friday for lunch, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the food was average, the incident regarding the payment was highly disappointing.
Upon requesting the bill, the waiter confirmed the amount as £19. Without double-checking the total, I proceeded to make the payment using contactless. However, upon reaching home, I received a notification of a £91 charge for my meal. Naturally, this came as quite a shock.
Immediately, I contacted the restaurant to seek a refund. However, the staff member I spoke to misunderstood the situation and mistakenly believed that they had undercharged me. To rectify this, he provided me with his bank details via WhatsApp, presuming that I needed to pay the remaining amount. I promptly responded with a voice message explaining the error, along with a picture of the transaction clearly displaying the £91 charge.
Despite reading the message, the staff member did not respond, and all my subsequent calls went unanswered. Frustrated, I had no choice but to make the journey back to the restaurant, which took an additional 40 minutes.
Upon my return, the same staff member eventually acknowledged the mistake but opted to provide a cash refund instead of refunding the amount back onto my card.
