The best kebab in London, in my opinion, and my wife's opinion. Be prepared with cash. They don't accept cards. Not a place to invite your boss to ask for a raise, but very convenient as a family day out, with friendly atmosphere and very efficient, though solemn but sweet young waitresses, wearing all black. Been to it at least 15 times since we discovered it 8 - 10 months ago, travelling everytime all the way from Purley in south London. You only pay for the main dish and drink, but you get as much hot khubuz (flat fresh bread) as you wish, a delicious starter dish of lentil soup, an average tasting starter humous dish, a mixed salad dish, and an average tasting pickled vegetables, all as free starters. When you finish your food, you will then get a free istikan (small oriental glass cup) of black tea, and a piece of average tasting baclawa (pastry sweet). Try their Iranian lamb kebab, it is really delicious. If you are a kebab beginner, you may not be able to tell the difference between their different kinds of kebab. Trust me, they are different. Prices are surprisingly low, and they don't charge service nor expect a tip, despite their amazingly good service. This made me always give them a 15-20% tip, which makes them extremely happy. They once chased us as we were leaving thinking that we paid them too much, but were very thankful to know that it was a tip. Avoid after 6 pm on any day, unless you are prepared to wait for an empty table, with a long queue extending well outside, and a wait...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Azmar, and I can confidently say it was one of the best culinary experiences I've had! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home.
Now, let’s talk about the food! The menu is a delightful journey through traditional Kurdish cuisine, and every dish we tried was bursting with flavor. We started with the Kurdish Dolma, which was perfectly seasoned and wrapped in tender grape leaves. It was a fantastic appetizer that set the tone for the meal.
For the main course, I opted for the Kebabs, and they were simply divine! Grilled to perfection, the meat was juicy and flavorful, served with a side of fragrant rice and fresh vegetables. My dining companion chose the Biryani, and I couldn’t resist stealing a few bites—it was rich, aromatic, and absolutely delicious!
The service was exceptional as well. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal.
To top it all off, we indulged in the Baklava for dessert, and it was the perfect sweet ending to our meal—crispy, flaky, and just the right amount of sweetness.
Overall, Azmar is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore authentic Kurdish cuisine. I can’t wait to return and try more dishes from their extensive menu....
Read moreAWFUL EXPERIENCE OVERALL. Our starters were bitten which I addressed to the waiter, she took it away without apologising or saying anything like this was very normal, which was worrying. When our main came, I asked the same waiter for bread and was left waiting for a long time while she was walking up and down. Then she was sat on the table next to ours which she brought food to and started eating without any care or worry that her customers are waiting for bread to eat with their main. Our food was getting cold and I was hesitant to ask all the moody looking staff for bread AGAIN and when I did, I was left WAITING AGAIN. So I left my food half eaten and went up to the manager to discuss this awful service provided by his workers expecting him to do something about it. He then in return says he has regular customers so our opinions and complaints were practically chucked out the window as far as he's concerned. Not to mention the previous time I came, my lamb chops were 100% burnt and the same thing happened, no one cared. It's no wonder why the waitresses provide poor service, it's because management lacks any sort of etiquettes or qualities a manager should have!...
