DO NOT GO HERE, THEY DISCRIMINATE AND MISTREAT PEOPLE OF COLOUR!! And as you can see from the owners response there is no remorse or accountability towards our experience as there is no apology. I have even posted the mangers response to other reviews in comparison to the one I have been given. Just because that is ‘supposedly not’ what you do, does not mean it did not happen. Just because staff are people of colour does not stop discrimination from happening. And for your information, after leaving, I had relocated to another branch and funny enough l was seated happily and without problem at a 4 seater table. So Stratford Westfield Heavenly Desserts if discrimination is not apart of your culture, why was I able to be serviced at another branch without mistreatment ? It truly disheartens me to write this review as I have been going to this establishment for a few years now and have never had a horrible encounter until today. My partner and I were subject to discrimination and inexcusable customer service by all staff on duty this evening. We were bullied into leaving the restaurant due to sitting at a 4 seater table during an empty period instead of a two seater due to ‘new establishment rules.’ Mind you, the place was practically empty and I had explained to the waiter multiple times that I would be conducting business and needed the space to write as well as eat and the table set for two would be too small to do so. I also explained in the event that the place should get crowded we would be happy to move to a two seater area but was constantly met with refusal due to “new establishment policies”. Bear in mind I was offered to have two tables put together this creating the same 4 seater that was already available without the hassle. After 15 minutes and back and forth I asked to speak with the manager and was told they were not available via phone and could only be contacted through email. By now, feeling exhausted and overwhelmed by such a simple situation I went to take my seat at the 4 seater where I originally was and following that was met with practically no service until I called for a waiter. After taking my order a few minutes later the waiter arrived with the bill and told us that we must pay before ordering due to sitting in this 4 seating area. When I asked why I was told that the manager said to enforce this due to sitting in this area and that he had checked cctv and called the store. I then asked to speak to the manager and was once again told I could not speak with him but given a piece of paper with an email on it. After once again trying to understand why we were being subjected to this unusual and rude behaviour we had decided to leave. As someone who has also worked in customer service never have I ever treated PAYING customers the way we were treated especially on the basis of “ potential customer to come.” AND I REPEAT- After leaving, I had relocated to another branch and funny enough l was seated happily and without problem at a 4 seater table. So Stratford Westfield Heavenly Desserts if discrimination is not apart of your culture, why was I able to be serviced at another branch without...
Read moreThe slow death of human interaction
I visited Heavenly Desserts Stratford with high hopes, excited to try their much-raved-about range of sweet dishes. However, I was immediately put off by their app-only approach to menus and ordering. The restaurant forces customers to download an app just to see the menu and place orders, eliminating the human touch that makes dining out special.
Adding insult to injury is the enforced data collection that comes with having to download an app. The requirement to input personal information just to place an order raises privacy concerns and feels invasive. It's one thing to voluntarily sign up for a rewards program; it's quite another to make it a mandatory step to access basic services like ordering food.
The app-centric model also raises concerns about the reduction in service jobs. With no waiters/waitresses taking orders or interacting with guests, there's a loss of jobs that are vital to the community and the local economy. It's disheartening to think that the restaurant is willing to sacrifice employment opportunities in the name of "efficiency."
Dining out isn't just about the food; it's about the atmosphere, the interaction with staff, and the feeling of being taken care of. Having to navigate through an app, followed by the usual clumsy sign-up and account verification process to order made the whole experience feel impersonal and transactional.
Using an app negated the ability to ask questions about the menu or receive recommendations, which is one of the joys of dining out.
I can appreciate a restaurant wanting to be modern and efficient, but this forced digitization has stripped away the charm that makes eating out enjoyable. Coupled with privacy and employment concerns, this approach has left me certain that I'll...
Read moreI decided to try this place after some mixed reviews. I ordered a delivery instead as the restaurant itself was quite busy and I didn’t like the waiting times 30minutes plus (not of to a good start) The menu has quite a lot on offer with options to build your own aswell. From waffles, crepes, macaroons, cakes, sorbet & gelato there surely is something for everyone here that is if you’re a big dessert fan than you’re in the right place. They have a wide variety of hot and cold drinks available ranging from coffee, hot chocolate, milkshakes to your more elaborate signature iced drinks like espresso crème martini & pistachio Spanish iced latte. I ordered the ferrero rocher waffle, chocolate fudge cake, milk chocolate sauce & custard and caramel espresso frappe. I also decided to order a tub of chocolate & hazelnut gelato who can say no to more ice cream 😆 I thought it was reasonably priced @ £6.95 so luscious and creamy. The waffle had a crisp exterior but was still light and fluffy on the inside drizzled with melted chocolate, crushed nuts & ferrero rocher. It’s was nice as was the rich chocolate fudge cake with milk chocolate sauce, I should have taken a picture of the little tub of custard they gave it was abysmal 😢 I was really looking forward to that as it’s a classic you need to have a look at the portion sizes. I think my frappe may have been sitting out too long near something hot as it’s had deteriorated drastically lolz wasn’t happy about that…packaging issues. Maybe you would have a better time if dining in the restaurant with the whole atmosphere like they have the tapas which offers 3 for £12 or 5 for £18 and sharer plates, but I did enjoy it and recommend trying it out as I know I definitely be back to dine at...
