First visited The Real Greek a few years ago for a small birthday lunch. Always said would return as it was fondly remembered as part of a very enjoyable day. Sadly this time the experience was markedly different. On sitting at our table a waitress took our order which comprised of 2 drinks, 2 starters, 2 mains. Surely not too taxing. The drinks arrived first, no problem. One starter came. We waited. We waited more. 2 mains came. Brought to our table by a different server. One incorrect, not what we ordered. We advised this waitress that one main was wrong and that we were missing a starter also. Waitress appeared to think we were mistaken and went to get confirmation of order. Came back with slip with incorrect order on it but it was our fault. Waitress not interested, didn't even look at us as she was speaking, but glanced around restaurant, talking out of the side of the mouth. Attitude was completely '... didn’t take your order..NOT my problem....' She was told to at least have the courtesy to look at us. She went away and first waitress returned who advised she didn't understand us when we ordered. SO....that's what you do then? Write any old malarkey down and hope for the best. Surely if there was any slight inclination of an incorrect order you would check or better still repeat order back to your customers? Complete change of attitude from this waitress too- not so friendly now. Thank God no food allergies involved. On being presented with bill, first waitress astonished to be asked to remove the 10% service charge. Had to get manager to do it. Food excellent but small portions for price paid. Service atrocious. Disabled/baby change WC filthy with toilet paper on floor, sanitary disposal bin overflowing with dirty nappy on top. Pleasant. Reluctant to give 1 star but standard of food only redeeming quality. If this is The Real Greek, will take the chance on the Fake one next time. Or the one that kept half an eye open on the 1/2 day mandatory customer...
Read moreMy friend and I opted for the mezze tapas for two which cost £17 pp. For starters, we had the houmous, spicy feta dip and flatbread. Then we had calamari, halloumi skewer and potatoes and rice. The man initially gave us a portion of bread for one person only, so we had to ask for the second portion. The bread was nice, the spicy dip was nice and the houmous was okay. Next came the rubbery calamari, I’ve had calamari from many different restaurants before and it’s always crispy this was crispy but it was like biting into a rubber ring! I would avoid it! The halloumi was nice but we were given one skewer, which was fine as we shared it. The rice was bland and soggy and the potatoes were awful. They were boiled with pepper and looked awful too. I have been to The Real Greek before and the food was really tasty. My experience yesterday was unfortunately terrible. To top it all off we found a fly in the calamari dip. We showed it to the waiter he took it away and then came back to offer us another one. We declined and said we were full and then he said would you like some chocolate cake. My friend and I said hmm we are not sure and a bit full and he said are you trying to lose weight. Unfortunately, it came across as rather rude. I don’t think anyone should comment on a customer's weight! Anyway, the only good thing was the flatbread and halloumi. I won’t return to this establishment again because I can get better food elsewhere. This felt like a chain restaurant and it didn’t taste authentic at all. It was clean enough and the atmosphere was fine, it was extra nice as it was a warm sunny day and we sat in the conservatory area. I don’t think it was worth the money at all! I...
Read moreMy family and I went for a birthday to eat at this restaurant in 2 Chestnut Plaza, Westfield Stratford City. But we realized that the food in this Greek restaurant is an insult to Greece. The salad I ordered came in a small bowl. It was just three roughly cut pieces of tomato, some uncut lettuce leaves, and some huge chunks of onion. It was just that, lying there with no love, but it cost 8 pounds. What my family ordered was the potatoes, the pieces of meat, everything was dry, dull, and thrown there on a plate. The manager justified himself by saying it's a fast food place because the hotel is across the street. That justifies the making and charging £8 and £18 for that junk food? That is an insult to the customer! A service like that should not be in Westfield Stratford, where other restaurants are striving to better serve a public that is going to be demanding, taking into account that the area is expensive. There is nothing love in what they do. They also say that the owner is not going to change the food or the price and that he is not going to do anything even if people complain. I mean, they don't care about their business, much less about their customers. Although the staff were friendly and in the end they gave me back part of the money the food cost, I won't go back again. It's...
