So.... me and the wife booked for valentines day and the Big Easy has changed. We sat down and was told that happy hour for cocktails was on for another half hour. We were told that if we wanted the happy hour cocktails we'd have to go to the bar and get them ourselves as you cant have happy hour at the dinner table. So my wife went and bought our drinks at the bar herself. The waitress then came back and took our fold order. Gone are the voodoo prawns of old the 3 massive jumbo battered prawns which were a culinary delight replaced with 5 smaller tiger prawns in bread crumbs rather than a good batter as before. The the main meal came. The wife ordered the californian lobster roll and for £25 plus £4.50 for fries totalling £29.50 there was hardly any lobster filling in the roll it was a total rip off. I ordered a BBQ tasta rama £23.50 with hot links £3 and fries £4.50 on the side. The pulled pork was ok but the Louisianna Rib was so dry and tough it was inedible so I left it, the chicken was also unbelievably dry and after 2 mouthfuls I couldn't eat any more. The wait staff did not ask us if we were ok ask us if we needed any sauces or if we would like a drink through the entire meal. When we had finished a member of staff asked if he could clear the plates I pointed to the food and informed him that it was dry and inedible and we werent happy that no one had come over his reply was. Do you want me to pack it for you to take home? He then asked a different member of staff to come over and we explained it to her she told us that she couldnt help and asked if we want to speak to a supervisor? We said yes. She called a supervisor over who asked us and we said the same again and he supervisor asked us if we'd like to speak to a manager. The manager never came but the supervisor did come back and reduced the bill by £13. Considering the main meal cost nearly £30 and all I ate was the tiny portion of fries which I paid extra for, The hot links which I paid extra for, the handful of pulled pork and the coleslaw I felt ripped off. Just to rub salt in the wounds they added £8 service charge onto the bill for a non existant service that turned the gesture of money off for poor food as an insult. We left at that point it was clearly no longer about the food as it used to be and we couldnt be bothered to argue. Will not be going back. Extra star is for the band they were...
Read moreBooking for Mother's Day was at 5.30pm, but we wasn't seated until 6pm. Two of the front staff kept saying our table was being cleaned and prepared. I should of known from this, the service would go downhill from there.
When we were seated, it felt as if we were forgotten about. No one came over to take our drink orders. We had to call the waiter over for service. We ordered our drinks and main meals. The food came out, but still no drinks after 30 mins of receiving food. I was in fact choking on my food to the point my mum had to go and ask the waitress what has happened to our drinks. Waitress then delivered our drinks 10 mins after my mum asked for it.
I ordered the BBQ Ribs with truffle chips, which came with spicy beans & coleslaw. The BBQ ribs were luke warm and it sucked up the BBQ sauce quite quick. 30 mins passed and what seemed like a senior member of staff, came over to check if everything was ok. I told him, no, as the service was extremely slow. He apologised and said they have over-booked and are short staffed.
We ordered another lemonade for my son and this took 25 mins to arrive.
Before I booked, I saw there was a free glass of prosecco with dessert for every mum. But when I asked the waitress, she said I had to purchase ice-cream to get the prosecco.
We were told LIVE music was meant to start at 7pm, but the LIVE music didn't start until 7.45pm.
When we asked for the bill, the waitress gave it to us straight away. It came up to £100.89, which I saw included service charge of £11+. I told her I wasn't happy with a lot of stuff here today, because it has put a lot of stress on my Mother's Day. She then took the service charge off. When asked why they advertised Free Prosecco on their website, the waitress then said "yes the Prosecco is free, along with ice-cream". Well that's funny, she didn't tell me that when I asked first time round.
This has to be the worse meal and service I've had and I've been here twice before. Will not be returning here, as it was quite embarrassing for me taking my mum here too for her...
Read moreWe booked a table for Saturday night at 7pm for a birthday treat for my son after a show at the O2. Well after seeing some less than favourable reviews on here for The Big Easy at Stratford I had a few doubts in my mind that we'd made the right choice.
Well from the moment we arrived those doubts went out the window!!! This place is brilliant!! We arrived and even though there was a group ahead of us being seen a staff member came over and greeted us. They confirmed the booking and then seeing it was for a birthday asked who it was for and when I said my 12 year old son they had a laugh and a joke with him.
We were taken to a table not to far from the stage where the band was getting ready to play. Now I've seen reviews on here that slate this place for the "LIVE" Band being to loud!! What do you expect it's a live band that has to play over a full busy restaurant. Also the company website states there is Live music every night! We thought it was great so did the little girls of the family behind who were dancing along to them. It's part of the experience!
The waitress that we were assigned was fantastic she was attentive and helpful (surprising as she was really busy as we're all the staff) she took drinks orders and food orders helping us out so we didn't order to much and over order. Drinks arrived promptly and the starter was almost instantly served which given it was a huge sharing platter was a bit of a surprise but it was hot and really tasty.
All our food came just as quick and wow the ribs were amazing the meat on them was huge! It just fell of the bone. Brisket was tasty and the Garlic Shrimp was amazing. My Son's Mac n Cheese was also brilliant even if it filled him up quite quickly.
They also brought him a Happy Birthday Ice cream and really made a fuss of him.
We really had a fantastic night at the Big Easy Stratford and would gladly pop back for another visit!! Thanks for making our day a bit more special than we thought...
