I love the fact that they've uncovered the original W. Andrews sign, but I also loved their old name Big Bowl Noodle. Still, they can do whatever they like with their rebranding. I didn't try them before they changed to Hochima, as I was rarely close by, & so far only have only tried with their limited takeaway menu during lockdown, but found their food mixed in quality, & a bit pricey for some dishes. Friends & neighbours of mine rave about them though, & it's nice to have the contrast in the area & with the place next door. Starters were good - salt & pepper squid (yum), as were the rice dishes, although I couldn't really tell the difference between the meat & vegetarian dumplings, but one noodle dish was very poor for ยฃ10: really dry & with hardly any pieces of meat or veg, or sauce, frankly. I ordered it in store so picked it up fresh myself & only had to walk a few mins with it, so it was still hot at least. I ended up with one very small meal from that, & used the left over noodles for 2 other meals - stir fries with my own veg/meat & sauce. That dish really did live up to their old name! Ha ha! ;). Maybe they were short on supplies at that time, but even so, I'd not risk my reputation with such meagre offerings. I might go again, & eat in if with friends, but avoid the noodles, until I'd seen an...
ย ย ย Read moreI really tried to like this place, as I love Vietnamese dishes and this place is local. This was my second try. The first time round the pho was not amazing, but it was ok. This time round, the chicken curry was very poor and nothing like described on the menu. No peppers or bamboo. Instead, it had lots of onions, carrots, some unidentifiable mushrooms and frozen peas - none of it mentioned on the menu. The chicken was hot on the outside and cold on the inside. It was rubbery and tasted undercooked. The rice was not good. The price was different to the price on the menu, although I specifically asked before ordering if the dish I was ordering comes with rice. I can think of many other ways to spend ยฃ10 on the food that I actually would eatโฆ so for me, I definitely wonโt be coming back. Itโs a shameโฆ as I used to like the food in the big bawl noodle restaurant, which used to be in the same place but had more Chinese foodโฆ. Unfortunately, hochima pho is...

I should have said something at the restaurant but didn't want to kick up a fuss. very sad as have been using the restaurant for over a decade. in 2 minds wether to go back. service was...
