MANAGER FORCED US TO LEAVE AND WAS HOMOPHOBIC OPENLY. Worst customer service I have ever received. I have been going to jaks on numerous occasions over the past few years and always enjoyed it, sadly this was not the case yesterday. A friend and I arrived and went to the bar to get a drink, we stayed for a while and then decided we didn’t want to drink too much and persued to the restaurant. I ask a female waiter if it would be possible for us to have a table and she shrugged pointed and walked off which I found most bizarre but decided to leave it. We were not offered menus I had to go find them and we were not offered drinks. I went up to a different waiter to ask for a jug of water and the first women angrily dumped it on the table. My phone was dying so I said the lady sorry to be a pain but can we move to a table across the room which I noticed had a plug. If i worked in a resturant myself I would help my customers move their drinks over she just stormed off (I don’t think it’s an unreasonable request personally the restaurant wasn’t busy). My friend had ordered the ricotta and spinach Canalloni and I ordered risotto. Our food arrived as we moved tables and so we carried it ourselves which is fine but meant we didn’t initially notice that my friend had a dish she hadn’t ordered. I said to the women “serving” us I’m really sorry but my friend didn’t order this dish and she replied that there’s nothing she could do. So we were expected to pay for something we hadn’t ordered? I went and found the “manager” and told him I was unhappy about the service and the lack of care in what is supposed to be a nice place. He told me there was nothing he could do, and was angry and rude to me (how this man has risen to be a manager I will never know I am honestly astounded). We went back to the table my friend had started eating the dish as we hadn’t eaten all day after work and he said he would make her something else I replied that he needed to take it off the bill because we didn’t have time to wait any longer for their errors. A different lady then brought us the bill. My friend has a serious medical condition that causes her to faint sometimes when she eats and as they had given her a heavy dish she fainted. The manager wasn’t apologetic he stormed over to us and shouted “you have to leave I’ve seen you KISSING ITS NOT ALLOWED HERE” (we are both female) I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My friend and I are purely friends and even if we weren’t how can a manager of a restaurant openly kick you out when you halfway through a meal for supposedly kissing besides the fact he had completely made it up. I told him that we were not kissing. He said that I was a joke my friend was a joke and that we needed to p* off. Yes, the manager of the resturant told us to p* off and continued to say we were taking the p? All I’d asked for was a bit of service and the correct meal that I had ordered? I am completely disgusted at this point then another man comes over and asked what’s happened and when I told him what his manager had said he told me I would see it differently in the morning and that his staff is sober and I’m not. I had half the bottle of wine left on my table meaning my friend and I were half way through our first glass each? Also it’s a bar I’m well intitled to drinking there and I don’t think the fact I’d had a drink and the manager hadn’t meant he was in his right to tell me to p off which i found highly offensive. Well it is the morning now and I definitely don’t not see it differently. How can such disgusting actions be justified by someone even senior then the manager and how does anyone running a business like that think it’s exceptable to swear at their customers and on top of that be homophobic in such a disgusting manor. we were forced to leave after we had paid for our meal and as we left the manager pointed at us and said these two never again. I think the power of his mediocre job may of gone to this silly mans head, I can assure you I will...

Do you like slow service and mediocre food served to the dulcet tones of a Mike Flowers Popsesque Christmas medley live performer in the front accompanied from the adjacent room by a Now That's What I Call Unnecessary Dance Remixes backing track being played at 120dB?
I know what you are thinking. "That sounds great, but what am I going to watch?" Don't panic, there's a treat in store for you. You can enjoy 30 minutes of football which they will then interrupt to bring you a Hollywood blockbuster complete with subtitles on the big screen while you try and shout to the person sat opposite you on your table. We were treated to Home Alone and Hangover 2 but it wouldn't have surprised me if they had been playing Schindler's List.
I was worried I wasn't going to make it all the way to dessert but hearing the wildly unappreciated and underplayed 140bpm dance version of Eye Of The Tiger saw me through. It was almost worthy of me posting a video montage of me vaulting the rug (which makes up 50% of their public liability insurance bill) before running up the filthily carpeted stairs of the place and bursting into the street with arms aloft. ADRIAN!
It's not all bad though. Unless you order the steak, then it's all bad. Chewier than Wrigleys was the comment which stuck in my mind, but luckily not my throat. Got a buddy who knows the Heimlich? You might want them as your plus one.
Am I sounding negative? I hope not. You should come, they have a tractor and you'll leave with a renewed appreciation for just how good your local kebab van is. You can't reach the highs without tasting the lows, and there's a menu full...
Read moreI’d like to start by just pointing out that the venue is cool and the food is nice enough. However, the service is beyond appalling. We visited on Saturday night for a friends birthday and the staff, especially the manager, all but managed to ruin her night. Firstly, after being seated for over half an hour, we had to ask for menus. We had three vegans with us and when asked whether there were any vegan options, the waitress replied with “what’s vegan”. Seriously?! The three vegans were then told to go to the kitchen to talk to the chef. This is harmless enough, but the way it was phrased was poor, and as the tables are so close together, it was actually a real inconvenience. This all would have been forgivable, but it got much worse. The food started to arrive and there was nearly an hour between the first dishes arriving and the final dishes, meaning we all ate at different times. The waiters were even asking us who was missing food and what they were missing. This isn’t the waiters fault, but as the tables are so closely cramped together, all they could do was stand at the end and we had to pass the dishes down the table. The same went for clearing. When we told the manager about the problems we had had with the service, his answer was: “so?”. How unbelievably rude. I am frankly stunned that this man has risen to management as he is one of the rudest and arrogant individuals I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. As long as this man holds any position here, I would not go back to Jak’s if they paid me to, and would never recommend...
