0 Star. BE CAREFUL BOOKING AN EVENT HERE.
I don't normally write bad reviews, but I feel I have to warn people about booking an event here, because events are celebratory and you'd hope the staff would appreciate that and try hard to make things as best as they can for you. Not here. BE WARNED. And mine was my wedding night.
I also wish I'd read the reviews from this place, rather than just looking at the stars, which are not reflective. After my experience here, I went to read the reviews to see if others had witnessed what I had and am not surprised by what I've found, but also SO shocked.
Staff are incredibly rude and treat you as if you are a MASSIVE inconvenience to them. From the review below from Sophia, I think we were lucky they hadn't closed the pub before we arrived for our karaoke booking as I really don't think this place cares about honouring bookings or making money - or if they ruin your night! I'm not sure what I would have done if, like the other reviewer, I'd turned up for our karaoke booking and they'd closed the pub early with no warning or apology, even after doubly confirming with them. I think we were very close to that happening, but thankfully made it in time, much to the annoyance of the bar staff clearly! My god. You'd think you'd be a bit more welcoming and friendly to someone in a bloody wedding dress.
The pub was empty when we arrived at 10.30pm (really strange for a Saturday night in Chelsea), but I now have a better picture of why because the staff are awful. It was my wedding night and we'd booked the big karaoke room from 10/10.30pm until midnight. I even checked my email to them and I'd said 10/10.30pm and we arrived at 10.30pm, so we weren't actually late. I'd tried to call them at 9.45pm but no answer and I'd emailed to say we were on our way and would be there at 10.30pm. Despite all that, when I arrived the karaoke room wasn't set up and they said "Oh we weren't thinking you were going to turn up". Considering the pub was empty, it's like they weren't prepared or wanted a big group to show up i.e. there weren't any toilet rolls in any of the three ladies toilets (it's as if they'd been removed on purpose?) and we had to ask them twice to restock.
It's like they wanted to make the atmosphere and experience as terrible as possible so that you'd want to leave. It's the strangest thing. They lied multiple times on what drinks were available. My friend asked for red wine, and they said they didn't have any (what pub doesn't have red wine?!), and then a bit later, my father-in-law came down with a red wine. They said they had no tonic available, so people had to have soda, but then a bit later other people were served gin and tonics. There were so many instances like this, it's hard to count. It was actually disgusting, especially when people are there to celebrate. We know the two bar staff were planning to lock up to go out with the bar staff from the nearby pub as they were openly discussing it. I think we were lucky we turned up when we did, as from the review below, it sounds like they could have closed the pub early and stuck two fingers up at us. AVOID. SERIOUSLY. Terrible, terrible customer service...
Read moreN.B. Most of the Great reviews belong to the old “Chelsea Pensioner”. I went in the pub for a party last Friday, the place has been recently renewed, nice decorations and that’s the only positive think I have to say. Staff not friendly, not engaging with conversation, we’ve ordered some beers and got my usual Neck Oil, the taste wasn’t that great but for the second round we’ve ordered Gamma Ray. After tasting it, the taste was sour and the beer very cloudy. Same for my friend. We went to the counter and told the lady about that and maybe to check the beer lines. The answer was: it’s okay you can leave them. We’ve ordered 2 lagers and been told: “paying together?”. I paid, didn’t say anything else but very surprised and disappointed with the customer service, I like going to pubs and that’s the first time that I haven’t been offered another beer. Empty glasses of beers were everywhere despite the pub not being busy, the make toilet in the basement was in horrible conditions and the sink was out of order. We left and went to the pub next door, busy, fresh beers and staff...
Read moreas a member of what was known as the 1905 club I enjoyed last season having a pre and post match beer..There was a refurb and from what I can see there are a couple of issues.. Firstly a membership card system was introduced so that it stopped long delays on the door looking through lists of names..well that does not work, even with a card it takes ages to get in while the doorman looks each person up on the list... Secondly it is a bar used by football supporters on match day so you would think there would be a theme something along those lines, but no...instead there is a collection of lamps to the point where it looks like a tarts parlour, there is even a red neon light in the window.. Finally the prices!! shocking...Have torn up my card and will go...
