A Phenomenal Start (and Re-Start!) to Our Australian Adventure!
Johnny Green's in St. John's Wood truly saved the day and set the tone for what turned out to be an incredible, albeit delayed, trip to Australia. We had originally planned to be well on our way, but a sudden fire at Heathrow cancelled our flight, leaving us scrambling and frankly, quite deflated.
We stumbled upon Johnny Green's, and what a stroke of luck that was! From the moment we walked in, we were met with such warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff immediately made us feel welcome, and it was a huge relief to find such a wonderfully dog-friendly establishment.
Our furry co-traveller was treated like royalty, given water and even a few friendly pats, which made a stressful situation so much more bearable.
Beyond the fantastic welcome, the food was absolutely delicious – a perfect, hearty start to our unexpected extended stay in London. The atmosphere was buzzing yet relaxed, a true gem in St. John's Wood. Johnny Green's didn't just serve us a great meal; they provided a much-needed haven and a brilliant kick-off to our Australian adventure, even if it was a few days later than planned! We couldn't recommend them more highly for their fantastic food, superb service, and their genuinely dog-loving approach.

Read moreI walked into this neighbourhood restaurant on a busy Saturday morning for breakfast. We got seated at the bar which was nice of them to accommodate us. However, before we had even removed our jackets, the lady behind the bar asked us "what can I get you?". I replied that we had just entered, so please give us a few minutes to settle down and decide. She made a face to my reply, and thereafter proceeded to ignore us throughout our time there. I had to ask 5 times for a glass of tap water - despite her being stood behind the bar the whole time. The rest of the service staff were also unfriendly, even if slightly less than the bar lady. I had to remind them 3 times for my coffee, which arrived quite some time after my main - despite me asking it to be served first thing before the food. All service staff were cold and unwelcoming. I appreciate the place was busy, but not more than the seating capacity.
The food was.....basic - especially for the prices. My plate of smoked salmon royale plate looked empty - with two tiny pieces of toast with poached eggs on them - not exactly a "brunch" plate.
In summary - not a place I would visit again. There are far better places up the road in Primrose Hill, with more interesting food and way more...
Read moreLast weekend, we had the pleasure of dining at Johnny Green in St. John’s Wood, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish! We opted for brunch and ordered the smashed avocados and sweet corn fritters. I must say, the fritters were perfectly fried, achieving that ideal balance of crispy on the outside while remaining fluffy within. The egg accompanying the dish was cooked to perfection, adding a lovely richness that complemented the meal beautifully.
Our waitress was a standout part of our visit; she was incredibly nice and attentive, making sure our experience was as enjoyable as possible. What impressed us the most was her knowledge about the menu and various allergens. My partner has a peanut allergy, and she was more than happy to provide detailed information and reassurance regarding the dishes. This attention to dietary concerns is always appreciated and made us feel well taken care of.
Overall, Johnny Green is a charming spot for brunch, and we left with full bellies and happy hearts. We’d happily return to explore more of their menu, knowing we’d be in great hands! Highly...
