This is a pleasant, very stylish small cafe bar; a welcome addition to this rather staid, ‘East Enders’ type high street. There is a medium-sized frontage from which to (coin a cliche) ‘watch the world go by’. They have a small, but judiciously chosen range of sandwiches, cakes and snacks in addition to a limited range of alcoholic drinks. Imagine , then, my horror when I ordered an Americano with milk. The menu outside priced this at £3.05. When the young woman who served me conjured up the price, it came to an additional 35p which showed up as a ‘service charge’ on the till!! I questioned this and she immediately backed down and charged me the menu price. I found this very ‘disappointing’ (I could think of other less polite adjectives, but I will desist for now…until my next visit when, something tells me, all will be rectified). TOP TIP: carefully check your bill at this place until they rectify their highly unusual and inappropriate...

After much deliberation, I chose the smashed avocado with poached eggs on toast—and it did not disappoint. A pleasant surprise was discovering their happy hour on cocktails and wine starting from 2pm, which is such a nice touch. While I was waiting for my order, I had mentioned how delicious the salads looked, and the staff kindly brought me a small plate of tasters. It was such a thoughtful gesture and left me eager to return and try them properly next time. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff are wonderfully friendly, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. A lovely place all round—I’ll definitely be...

I had the vegan breakfast last time and it was delicious, and their homemade beans are a must try. The staff are all lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Some reviews have suggested that they’re not the cheapest on the high street, but the portions are big, the flavours are lovely and I think they win hands down on actual value for money. They also have a lovely little spot there for sitting in the sun and watching the world go by. Would highly recommend, great addition to the...
