I visited a year ago. I had noticed Ethiopian coffee ceremony. I walked in. The restaurant was empty. A waitress with some reluctance carried out the ceremony. She had to be repeatedly prompted what was happening.
My trousers (brand new) ripped on the low stool I was sat on. She did not want to know.
A year on, I visit to eat. I explain to the owner my trousers ripped on a previous visit. Rude. Does not want to know.
I check the places I wished to eat. Too late, closed at ten. Only option is JoJo Kitchen, an Ethiopian restaurant.
Blackstock Road, a rough area, gangs of young men hanging around. The restaurants closed, and yet barber shops open. And fast food takeaways.
Ethiopian restaurant empty. I don’t know what to eat. The top two items on the menu, lamb, one not spicy the other spicy. I ask for the second one, not too spicy.
A cold metal tray is brought. On the tray, thin, cold, soggy flatbread. What constitutes a lamb stew is poured into the middle. I am told to eat, fold the cold soggy flatbread around the lamb stew. I try. It falls to bits.
The most disgusting dish I have ever eaten. So spicy to be inedible. The lamb is tough.
When the bill is brought, I question why two pounds is added to my bill. The waitress says it was explained. It was not. Maybe explained the tough spicy lamb was served with flatbread. Did not explain that it was extra.
Meal at this Ethiopian restaurant must be the worst I have ever eaten. Served on soggy cold flatbread on a cold metal tray, tough chewy lamb, so spicy not edible.
No surprise the restaurant was empty.
Walking back along Blackstock Road, almost midnight, the barber shops are still...
Read moreWe have been to Jojo's Kitchen today and we were very disappointed with the service. First of all we went there in the afternoon and they were not happy to give us a table for 13 people because we haven't booked which is not right as on their Website nothing is mentioned on booking a table before hand. The irony was that while we were waiting and actually kind of begging to get somewhere to seat other groups came in and were asking us if there's a table and we were telling them we've been told it needs to be booked, but guess what they have been given a table while we were still outside negotiating to get a seat at least at the entrance. In my opinion this is all the way wrong. I am not impressed at all. Wait for it not only that at some point the children needed to use the rest room and they went to use it and as they come because the entrance door is clear glass you actually can think it's open, and two of our children bumped their head on it and you know what they said last time the entrance door was broken because of the same accident so please tell the kids to stay put. Seriously??? They should be accommodating their customers 🙄 instead of telling us that, they should be finding a solution for it. Another thing that didn't impress me is that they didn't give a monkey about us while they were taking care of their white customers. We Habesha need to respect our people, before others and if we don't have the decency of doing that at least treat everyone equally. Oh and the other thing is that the food we ordered took ages to arrive 🙄 All in all I suggest they need to improve their...
Read moreI took my family and a guest for dinner to this Ethiopian restaurant. We ordered food and mineral water. Food has been served after several minutes waiting. We poiltely reminded the waitress for the drink but she didnt care at all. I went to the reception and begged for water. The Ethiopian dip ( Awaze with chilli) served was spoiled and tastes mouldy. We tried to inform the waitress that something is wrong with the dip. But she shamelessly insisted that it is fresh. What a shame! Then we we wanted to pay the bill again the waitress warned us cash only and do not accept card! I asked the reason but no valid reason was given. Disrespectfully, I was told to pay by cash. I agreed but asked for valid reciept. They do not have a valid reciept too. Is it to manipulate tax? I have never seen such wildness elsewhere in uk. Why they act wild? I strongly recommend the Islingiton food hygiene and invornmental health department for random inspection of this...
