Updating my review to make it even lower following quite a disappointing day today. I’m constantly made to feel unwelcome with my baby (seems to happen every Thursday) and clearly these reviews don’t mean much to the management of Juliet’s. I won’t be returning sadly.
—- I really do love this cafe and the incredible food, and coffee of course. I look forward to visiting at least once a week but since becoming a new mum I’ve seen a bit of a different side to Juliet’s. Firstly it feels really unwelcoming if you have a pram - the most spacious part of the cafe is reserved for antisocial laptop users and there’s barely any space elsewhere to stop for a little while if you have a baby. Not to mention you can barely get inside the cafe without help due to the unnecessarily heavy door and step to get in (I’m not sure wheelchair users could manage this without help either). The last two times I’ve not been greeted nicely and have felt a sense of shame for breastfeeding whilst enjoying a coffee. One staff member seemed terribly inconvenienced when I asked for a napkin to wipe the floor where I’d spilled some milk. It just sadly feels tremendously unwelcoming for parents, there’s not even a baby changing table in the bathroom. I often stand at the door wondering if I should go in when I have my daughter because I simply don’t know what my experience will be like. And while the courtyard is lovely, I wish they would be more open minded about having well behaved dogs inside on a quiet weekday at least!
I know so many mums that would love to come here regularly and sadly our experience is shared. I just hope that this review helps to guide management to consider a new and more friendly approach, not least because mothers and fathers on parental leave are always looking for a coffee stop throughout the week. They might also be just be as big a clientele base as your remote workers. I will continue to come here because it is simply the best coffee and...
Read moreMany times I told myself to try this one as we always go to it's old sister restaurant in Balham called MILK (not anymore with the same owner). Menu is pretty much the same apart of few items. And oh boy that was a rather disappointing experience! First the menu is only digital so only from your phone. Like in lockdown time. I tried to get the waiter attention to take my order but he told me that I "should" really order it from the website but since I called him he could take my order. (Slightly rude coming from the waiter). I ordered in the 'Cimi the rapper'. On the menu you got a lovely sandwich in a plate but my order arrive in a takeaway box with paper under it and to be honest it was rather weird way of serving it since it quite creamy and not so easy in cut and eat in that tiny box. However the dish itself looked quite tasty and I started eating it like a sandwich since it seemed the easiest way to eat it. After few bites I really started to feel like a very strong smokey flavour, almost like a bottle of liquid smoke felt into that dish. It was really so overpowering that after few more bite it really became too intense to keep up going eating it. It was really disappointing as the menu did not mention anything about any smokey ingredients just being braised which is not as strong as what I have tasted in the past at different restaurant. However when I informed the waiter about it, he told me that the bread was toasted and the vegetables were braised, but it was so strong and so overpowering that I felt to insisting that I was not happy with that dish and this was the moment when the waiter rudely told me that "I should not have ordered a dish that I wouldn't like". That is why I decided to give this restaurant the 1 star review. Maybe the rest of the food is not so bad but the service was definitely unprofessional and disrespectful. I d'rather keep going to 'MILK' cafe where I'm never disappointed with the food and especially...
Read moreI recently visited Juliet’s for a bite to eat and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. Upon entering, we asked for a menu and were abruptly directed to a QR code—no further explanation or assistance offered. When we inquired about sitting outside, it took conversations with four different staff members before we were eventually told to walk around the corner to the outdoor seating area—only to find every table completely empty.
We placed our order, but the meals were brought out one at a time, each with about a 10-15 minute gap between them, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal together.
As a diabetic, I brought a can of full-sugar Coke with me (as did some of my friends), especially given the hot London weather and the fact that the café doesn’t sell any soft drinks. However, we were approached by a staff member who looked us up and down and accused us of being rude for not asking permission to bring drinks in. We were paying customers, and had there been suitable drinks available for purchase, we would have happily bought them. What made the situation worse was seeing another couple bring in outside drinks shortly after us without being questioned—this inconsistency felt like a clear case of ageism.
The overall attitude of the staff was unfriendly, and it was disheartening to hear them speaking about us while we were still seated. The toast was burnt, and the music inside was uncomfortably loud. That said, the food itself was actually quite decent.
In short, Juliet’s could really benefit from some serious improvements in...
