The place was clean with super friendly staff. A hige menu of variations of fried or grilled chicken and donor meat with different options of spices. I noticed there was not a lot of chicken stored in the hot tray (the sign said chicken served fresh). I got a grilled chicken burger with fried wings and drink along with medium spiced donor kebab. (Served with Barr Cola.. in support of the Palestinians). The wings were nicely breaded and flavoured with a good spice with a distinct black pepper flavour. They were also well cooked and literally fell off the bone. The Grilled chicken was burger was thin, but had great flavour, was well cooked and served in a clearly fresh toasted bun with the homemade mayonnaise (which was also a winner). The fries were the frozen kind, but piping hot, with a crispy outer and a good level of potato inside. The showstopper for me was the donor meat. This was clearly not your cheap donor meat. The lamb was not overly fatty. It had a lovely soft texture and was glistening from the flavours they had added and topped off with cilantro. If you haven't tried it.. You MUST !! The portions were great, the price point was even better. My only comment for improvement would be the tables have seen better days (possibly get them wrapped to freshen them up). Overall the place was busy and I can see why. If you want great food from friendly staff make...
Read moreThe food was good. The wings were the main draw for me having watched YouTube videos about this place. The quality of the chicken was great, but I was let down by the seasoning and the breading of the wing. Seasoning felt very minimal - I was expecting more of a kick. The wing felt very greasy. Granted, it's fried chicken, but i have experienced deep fried wings that don't feel as greasy. Also the lack of a multi buy deal e.g. 20 wings for £x is criminal - every other chicken place I have been to offer a multi-buy deal for wings.
The positives - the mixed Donner meat was exquisite. I had that with chips. The meat was sautéed with spices and sauce (in house I assume) that gave a real south Asian twang I could appreciate. For the quantity you get, it is priced very fairly in this day and age. The chips were also great, fried in good oil and had a decent level of crunch.
EDIT: Despite the Donner meat and chips being very good, the fried chicken was the main draw for myself - and I am sure for lots of you - so I feel my final verdict has to reflect this. The generic nature of the wings, combined with a lack of multi buy offers just cannot be glossed over.
To conclude - I live quite a distance from here so I wouldn't go out of my way. However in the event I am local, I would come for the...
Read moreI've been going to KHF since it opened many years ago, I was one of their first customers. With that in mind, I can attest to the fact that KHF has stayed consistent all these years later, even improving upon many of its products.
The wings have greatly improved with added spice since I've last been. The wings are also larger in size providing more to eat and a fuller experience at the end. The chips are the same as they should be, nothing to change there.
The interior hasn't changed much since it's opening, only new floors and the removal of the mirrors that used to hang on the wall.
The menu also remains unchanged although the prices have risen though the shop itself is not to blame. However, one upside is that most of the menu items are the cheapest you can find among all the PFC shops in the London area, with a 6 wings and chips meal being only £4 compared to 5 wings and chips being £4.50 in other shops.
The sauces have always been great and stayed consistent. If you do go here, mark my words that the mayonnaise will probably be the best mayonnaise ever...
