I recently had the misfortune of visiting a supposedly reputable fried chicken shop in town, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of a culinary catastrophe. From the moment I stepped through the door, my hopes for an enjoyable meal were dashed, and what followed was a series of disappointments that left a sour taste in my mouth—both figuratively and literally.
To start, the ambiance was incredibly lackluster. The lighting was dim to the point of gloominess, and the decor was full with worn-out furniture and outdated artwork that desperately needed an upgrade. It didn't set the stage for an appealing dining experience.
Moving on to the service, it was a disaster from start to finish. The staff appeared disinterested, unenthusiastic, and inattentive. Our server took forever to approach our table, and when they finally did, their lack of knowledge about the menu was glaringly obvious. They stumbled through explanations, failed to answer basic questions, and seemed annoyed when we asked for recommendations. It was clear that the staff lacked proper training and didn't care about providing a positive customer experience.
Now, let's discuss the food—or lack thereof. The menu boasted an array of options that sounded enticing. The foid lacked flavor and creativity, and it seemed as if the chef had forgotten to season them altogether. The fries was overcooked while the doner were undercooked and tasteless. It was a true culinary tragedy. Even the dessert, which is often the saving grace of a meal, was an absolute letdown. The options were limited, and the one we chose tasted stale and lacked any hint of sweetness.
To add insult to injury, the prices were exorbitant for the subpar quality we received. It felt like a complete rip-off to pay such a hefty bill for a meal that left us unsatisfied and disappointed.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend this fried chicken shop to anyone seeking an enjoyable dining experience. The lackluster ambiance, abysmal service, and below-average food quality make it an establishment to avoid at all costs. Save your money and taste buds by seeking out a different dining option that actually cares about providing a pleasant...

If they seem to have more than three concurrent orders, they go in meltdown regardless of how many or few staff they have and your meal will take about 30 mins if you are lucky. Fast food this will not be! Neither should you expect the extra time equates to more attention to your food as raw meat amongst cooked meat is common here!
They are completely disorganised and this results in the following: They often short change so be sure you know how much you paid and how much you should get back.
While they struggle to keep pace with orders, 3 seems to be the point at which they struggle, they will ask you to pay again despite having already paid as they get lost in trying to keep up. Remember if you paid as they'll either chance it or they'll just forget and ask for payment again.
Another common issue is receiving the wrong order so make sure to check it otherwise you'll walk away with something else. If you made any special requests then be prepared to understand that this will be forgotten and they will not resolve unless you wait for about 40 mins. Thus your fast food order could take over one hour before you get what you ordered. Don't expect a serious apology, a gesture to compensate as it will not be forthcoming.
The above are merely the more positive aspects of Spice Hut in East Ham. The reason I stopped eating here was poor hygiene and food poison! I have had raw meat served in amongst cooked meat here before and that is when you know you should eat elsewhere.
If you hate yourself and want to suffer food poison then...

They have dropped they’re quality of food and service tremendously. It’s a shame because I knew people that used to drive from Ilford sides to eat here.
I came here at lunch time when I was at work, craving their lamb biriyani. I haven’t had it in a long time so I was really exited throughout my journey. When I got there I was told that the biriyani wasn’t available today as they’re chef had a day off. How can they rely on their chef for what they sell on the day? Do they run the business or the chef does? I ended up disappointingly getting chicken and chips which was dry as hell and seriously salty. If you’re going to make your customers make good of what you have to offer on the day, then at least do that good. Ratings dropped from 4 star to one star... zero of I was able to.
Original 4 star review:
This is definitely the best spice hut I’ve been to. I didn’t know there were so many branches. The other branches can’t really compete with this one. This place do really good food. They’ve never let me down in all the years I’ve visited. People tend to come down here from the other side of London, just to satisfy their taste buds. The only reason why this gets a 4* is because the food is so good that it gets too busy during lunch times. You can’t walk into the shop, let alone get to the counter and order your food. Luckily it’s near many other food places, so there’s always an alternative if you...
