I tried here for the first time. Ordered kitsune udon with spicy miso tuna rice ball and oolong tea (330 ml can). Food was mediocre. A bit pricy (total around £13 ish) but understandable as it's located in the station. Udon was not properly boiled and some parts were a bit hard. I assume they didn't mix up while boiling so some udon noodles were stick together. Seasoned deep fried tofu topping was good. The soup was a bit salty to my taste but OK. The rice ball was way too spicy and could not tell any miso involvement. Rice and nori quality not too bad. Also eat in price was 60p more which I found a bit much, plus eat in price was such a small print I missed first time around and I can't imagine anyone can spot out. The biggest problem about this place is they are not managing ingredients well at all. I visited there at 11.50 am and 70% of udon menu was "sold out" means that they probably didn't have ingredients ready before the day started to begin with. All available udon were like very basic stuff with wakame, a bit of ginger, age (kitsune) etc, means that they might be suffering from supply issues. They didn't have enough number of wooden spoons (reusable proper spoons) either. Plastic spoons are useless. They had good range of tempuras and deep fried stuff but I didn't try. Udon was very filling so the portion...
Read moreWe dined her today and I have to be honest it was disappointing. My wife is Japanese and we travelled here specially with our teenage sons to try their Udon but the experience was a let down. First of all there were very few Tempura side dishes on display to pick from which is strange as it is a very small menu. The Tempura chicken and fried vegetable Gyoza were very overcooked. I ordered the Tonkotsu udon but was not told there was no Ajitsuke tamago (ramen style eggs) left so they served me a poached egg instead which was fine but I should have been informed at the point of ordering. My wife ordered the Tempura udon set but again her dish was served with a couple of substitutions as several tempura items were not available, again no mention was made about these shortages when we placed our order, our food was just served with different items from the menu. The staff were nice enough and the udon itself was actually quite good but overall it was not a great experience, so different from the dining experience we get in Japan at even the very cheapest udon places. It is a shame as we expected better from a newly opened Japanese owned chain. I am not sure if I would go back but I might give it another try as I do like udon. I just really hope they...
Read moreAuthentic Japanese food at a reasonable price - I went to try their Udon yesterday and I was extremely satisfied. The restaurant is conveniently located inside St Pancras station opposite the M&S. It was highly recommended by numerous friends of mine and I finally decided to give this place a try. Completely worth every penny.
I had the Tonkotsu Udon. The noodles tasted so good and you can easily tell how fresh it is. The noodles were definitely one of the best in London; thick and fits under the category of 'refreshing slurp'. The egg inside the soup was also a pleasing addition. I also had 2 sides with my main - Vegetable & Prawn Tempura. They were fried to perfection and keeps you craving them the next day!
The service was also on point. Friendly smiles from the get on, extremely helpful with advice on how to order and was directed to a seat. the food also came rapidly.
I honestly have been recommending this place to everyone non stop. My friends who enlightened me with Kineya replied with I told you so. And honestly, I'm only disappointed I didn't visit this place sooner. Really deserves more recognition, would definitely come again, cannot wait. Thank you to the staff for my...
