Nestled in the heart of Kensington, La Piccola Pasticceria Deli has truly captured the essence of Italian homemade dining. During our recent visit, my wife and I were treated to a culinary extravaganza that left us speechless. From the impeccable customer service to the outstanding flavors, every aspect of our experience was nothing short of exceptional.
To begin our meal, we shared the Caesar salad, and it was a refreshing and delightful start, absolutely homemade. The crisp romaine lettuce, tangy dressing, and generous sprinkling of Parmesan cheese created a harmonious medley of flavors. It was the perfect choice for a light and appetizing appetizer to set the stage for what was to come.
For the main course, my wife opted for the Chicken Milanese, and she was more than pleased with her choice. The chicken was flawlessly prepared, with a golden and crispy coating that enveloped tender and juicy meat. It was accompanied by a side of roasted potatoes, adding a delightful savory element to the dish.
I, on the other hand, indulged in the Parmigiana di Melanzana, and it was a culinary masterpiece. The layers of eggplant, tomato sauce, and melted cheese formed a symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds.
To complete our meal, I savored a double espresso accompanied by a delectable pistachio croissant. The espresso was rich and aromatic, providing the perfect balance of boldness and smoothness. Paired with the flaky and buttery pistachio croissant, it was a match made in heaven. The croissant was filled with a luscious pistachio cream that added a delightful nutty sweetness to each bite.
For dessert, my wife indulged in the classic Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was light yet indulgent, offering a perfect ending to her meal.
Throughout our dining experience, the attentive and knowledgeable staff catered to our every need, enhancing our enjoyment of the meal. The ambiance was warm and inviting, providing a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
La Piccola Pasticceria Deli has undoubtedly earned our highest recommendation. From the exquisite Parmigiana di Melanzana to the delightful Chicken Milanese and the heavenly Tiramisu, every dish was a testament to the chef's culinary artistry. Combine this with the impeccable customer service and inviting ambiance, and you have a dining experience that will linger in your memory long after the meal is over. A visit to La Piccola Pasticceria Deli in Kensington is an absolute must for anyone seeking an unforgettable...
Read moreThe place looks lovely and so do the pastries, however…
As my girlfriend just described in her review, we tried 3 pistachio pastries that really lacked of taste. We live around the corner, but after being disappointed here twice before, we gave them another chance only today, many months after our last visit.
Now, (probably) the owner of the place replied to my girlfriend’s review: “If you had to come here 3 times without understanding that here there is not what you looking for I would ask myself a couple of questions!!”
I’m sorry, but does this imply you’d rather have customers that had a negative experience to stay away?
You’ve also replied: “Even more you forgot to mention the fact that we offered you what you are complaining for!!!!”
I believe you’re referring to the fact that 2 pastries were taken off the bill eventually. We appreciate that, however… We clearly stated we were not satisfied with what we got and we got the impression you’re staff didn’t really care (their reaction was “other customers do really like our pistachio pastries”). Even more so because afterwards they presented the bill with everything still on it. Only after refusing to pay it all, we were offered a discount.
Again, it’s just a shame nothing has been done with our constructive feedback over the months and frankly it just seems you don’t care. Even more so, it looks like you just want customers that have a complaint to stay away.
Too bad this was handled in such an unprofessional manner. I wouldn’t recommend a place that doesn’t take their customers...
Read moreWe came after seeing a social media post of their beautiful pastries.
The seating area is tiny, 6 tables with 2 chairs per table in a small area.
The service was horrible, it took over 35 mins just for the waitress to take the order and her demeanour made you apprehensive to ask her again whether you could order. I wanted to leave as soon as I sat as I felt uncomfortable with being so cramped but really wanted to try the food available.
I ordered a vegetarian breakfast which was horrible. The mushrooms were so slimy, the 'toast' was half a burger bun slathered with margarine...yuck, the eggs were fine. Latte was ok. Canolo lacked pistachio taste as some others have pointed out, the filling is lighter than the usual however I didn't hate it nor love it.
We ordered a ham breakfast accidentally mistaking it for a salmon breakfast and were told we must pay for the mistake 🙃. No room for mistakes here.
Two waitresses in particular were rude and had an attitude. We asked the waitress to wipe the table and she sat down at a table next to us and said "I'm not working right now" in a rude tone. We didn't know of course otherwise we wouldn't have asked. Her colleague later came to clean the table after 15 minutes, and the one that wasn't working started interfering with what we were ordering... She was supposed to not be working as she rudely pointed out previously😑
Would I go back? Nope, not even for...
