I’m a serial diner, I love exploring new places and experiencing different flavours.
I just had to leave a review for this restaurant because it was amazing, the moment you step through the door, you feel welcomed. Simple decor, good mood music, it all helps in making you feel really relaxed.
The service - fantastic! So attentive and never left us needing to call or get her attention. Although she was very busy, she made time to chat with us and was always ready with the menu just at the right time. Good service is so hard to find nowadays, great service is a rarity, the service we received, far exceeded our expectations. Just amazing.
The drinks - between us, we ordered eight cocktails, each better than the last! The cocktails are STRONG but delicious. The alcohol doesn’t overpower the taste of the drink. So many flavours, my favourite was the Ashanti Paradise!!
The food - I’m from the Caribbean myself, so I know what good, authentic Caribbean cuisine should taste like. The food was out of this world! So flavoursome and just scrumptious! If I could leave more than five stars I would.
Starters My friend got the saltfish fritters and I got the prawns and mussels. I always worry when it comes to seafood because sometimes it can go so wrong but not in this case, It was all so RIGHT! Delicious!
Mains My friend ordered the curry goat with rice and peas, plantain and coleslaw. She didn’t leave a morsel on her plate, at one point I thought she was going to lick it clean! She enjoyed every bite. I ordered the sea bass and was told it would come as a broth, I wasn’t entirely sold on the dish but regretted my entire thought process upon tasting it. My tastebuds went to heaven and back. It was cooked to perfection, so soft and flaky! Even the potatoes that accompanied it, were full of flavour.
We could not fault this restaurant at all, it ticked all our boxes and we’ll definitely be back soon! Just a fantastic dining...
Read moreI came here with my partner after getting a groupon deal online and I must say, it was worth every penny.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady called Susie who was warm, welcoming and funny and allowed us to choose wherever we wanted to sit. She instantly gave us bottled water with 2 glasses and explained the set menu to us thoroughly.
2 free cocktails were apart of the groupon deal so myself and my partner chose the first cocktail on the top of the list and Susie made it to perfection, so much so, we ordered another one and tipped her.
For starters I had salt fish fritters and my partner had crispy beef, the both tasted absolutely amazing but I think there could’ve been more fritters as there was only 2.
For mains I had jerk chicken with rice and peas, plantain and coleslaw and my partner had curry goat with rice and peas. My jerk chicken portion size was very big, I couldn’t finish it all and had to bring some home which is even better. My partner had the curry goat but didn’t enjoy it as much because he said it had too many bones and potatoes and hardly any meat. But overall tasted nice, meat fallen off the bone and spiced to perfection. Plantain was to die for and amazing portion size. Coleslaw was delicious.
Pros - service was good, friendly staff, good portions, good drinks, food cooked from fresh
Cons - waiting time was a bit long for food, we arrived at 7.30pm and didn’t receive all our food until 9pm, but I’m simply putting that down to the food being cooked from fresh as nothing tasted reheated, it was definitely worth the wait.
I feel there could be some indoor decor that needs updating as the restaurant itself looks very outdated but that’s just me being fussy lol
Overall I would definitely...
Read moreI visited the restaurant with my wife and daughter after purchasing a Groupon voucher. I must say, it was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. I choose the restaurant as way of patronising black business, even though it was miles away from me and getting there wasn't easy. However, the experience I had when I got there was very unpleasant.
It all began, when we arrived, we sat at the table for ages before we were giving a menu. After making our orders after close to 45mins after arrival, we were approached by what I can only describe as the most obnoxious, rude and arrogant lady who worked there to advise us that we cannot have what we ordered. She stated that we can only order certain items on the menu as that was what our voucher covered. We explained that we understand that we can order starters and main up to a certain amount but we're willing to pay the additional cost.
The lady was having non of it saying and I quote "you can't do that here" with a partulent attitude. When my wife and daughter step in to explain what we were trying to put across, she turned to me and said "listen, I am talking to you, I am going to say this again and leave the table" It was at this point that we have had enough and decided to walk out.
This lady needs training in customer service, if it was my business and any of my customers is treated in that manner, she will be sacked on the spot.
I don't know who she thinks she is addressing customers in such a manner. It is safe to say that I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone to save them from such an experience as the one I had.
I have asked Groupon...
