This coffee shop has always been overpriced, but as a customer looking for French bakery/pastry I usually accept to pay a little bit more.
I started to feel disappointed last January when I bought a Galette des Rois, which costed me £25 for a small size. I grew up in France and bake a lot, and honestly it was not worth buying it.
Later in the year, I texted the owner asking for a discount on baguettes because I was having a reception and wanted to buy 30 baguettes. Sadly, he never bothered himself to answer.
The campaillette baguette is generally dried and not fresh of the day. Today, we went to the coffee shop and bought an eclair and a Paris-Brest. Although it's not the same pastry, they are both made with choux pastry. The Paris-Brest was awful and obviously not fresh. We explained to the staff that was not fresh and were told that it was displayed for the third day!!!!
We also had a tchaï late made with earl grey...
They are part of the Too Good to Go network, and I am really worried about the quality of the products going there.
A new bakery opened recently on the High Street and I believe I should start...
Read moreThis placed really saved me after lock down and it used to be a perfect community hub with everything you want from a French patisserie in London. Sadly over the last year or so, changes have lead to this becoming more of a greasy spoon. This morning I saw three families with small kids leave because there were no pastries available (on a Saturday morning!) and I often see people come in for crepes (which they were very well known for as they were delicious) and now all that’s available is greasy spoon style baps cooked in the cafe (which leave your hair stinking of smoke everytime!). Also my favourite of all their products, the sausage roll, seems to have disappeared entirely. I must say the coffee has always been great and despite a fast turnaround, the staff have always made a great effort to create a community feel to the space, which is what keeps regulars like me coming back (I’ve met great friends at loafing) but I greatly miss what drew me to it in the first place - crepes!!! pastry!! Enough bread that I don’t see multiple people leave disappointed! Hoping loafing ups its game. It wasn’t broke, why did...
Read moreThis is one of my favourite cafes in London. However, today the two new female staff weren't too great in customer service. I whipped them up to the standard of customer service they should provide, and it seems they didn't like because I heard them sighing a relief after I left. After saying thank you to me, so a bit hypocritical too. The barista didn't sprinkle chocolate on my cappuccino properly and I aske for more. Also there was pulp residue in my coffee. The lady wasn't going to make me crepe because they were 'short staff'. Then she looked at me knowing I'm not going to give up so she made it. There was nobody ordering after me so she could have made the crepe. And she could offer for me to wait a bit if I wanted crepe. On the other hand, one of the female staff who is Italian or French is amazing. Her customer service is faultless. And she's so friendly and we even chatted casually. I provide this feedback to be constrictive. I like this cafe that's why I share because I want to keep coming back and bring my friends. Thank you for being...
