Mae + Harvey — Restaurant in London

I ended up getting a full refund in the end, but unfortunately my experience wasn’t great.

When I arrived, the table I was seated at was dirty. I kindly asked if someone could clean it but no one came. After waiting a while, I asked again and even offered to clean it myself if they were busy. I was told someone would come over, but again, no one did, and the table remained dirty.

No one came to take my food order either, so eventually I went up to the counter to order. Despite receiving no table service, I was still charged a service fee. I didn’t say anything at the time, but I did think, why am I paying for service when I didn’t receive any?

I ordered a toasted sandwich, and it was given to me in a takeaway bag. I mentioned I was eating in and asked for a plate, which they provided, but the order was still incorrect. By this point, I was starting to feel quite frustrated.

What really bothered me was the attitude of the girl serving me, she was smirking and came across as rude and patronising. I was being polite throughout and just wanted the order I paid for. To top it off, I ordered a hot oat latte and received an iced one instead.

Normally, I’m very relaxed about things like this, but the comment she made “Have you had a bad day today?” really rubbed me the wrong way. I was actually having a lovely day until all this happened. That sort of comment felt dismissive and unprofessional and some proper customer service training wouldn’t go amiss.

We ordered the mae + Harvey Easter goodie box which came with guaranteed coffee, bread, eggs and hot cross buns (plus a variety of other goodies) for £40 plus delivery. We ordered partly to support local businesses during this weird time but also because we really needed coffee beans to feed our coffee habit during lockdown! So needless to say we were incredibly disappointed to find no coffee beans in our box and when we queried the cafe, they became very hostile and rude and advised that no one had received any coffee! Unfortunately this was a lie as our friends also got the box and received their coffee as planned! I get that these are tough times however when there are only 4 guaranteed items and coffee was clearly the only high value item, it’s pretty poor form to not deliver nor offer a replacement high value item AND to be so downright rude to us about the situation,...

This was another brunch after running session. This place had long queue as it is known to be popular and recommended on most popular review sites. However, you will sit quicker if you are 2 people. We were group of 3 so waited around 30-35mins, which ok, because staff came out to check on us and updated waiting times. Staff Service very good. The food was great. We ordered “Crabcake” and “Porchetta” choices from the menu. For my taste porchetta, cold dish, was normal, as I dont like cold dishes (cold meat), because the fat surrounding pork meat is cold, dont like the texture, but i finished my plate. If you are someone like me I WOULD recommend Crabcake or other options. I assure they are all good. I JUST WANT TO SAY the service was good, everyone super friendly and just felt warm.
