Having asked in store a couple of days previous about the morning deal of buying a coffee and getting a pastry free, we visited this morning to take advantage.
The greeting was not a warming or welcoming one, from one lady. A smile goes a long way but one was not to be seen. An upside down one maybe! The demeanour of this lady was off and not suitable for such a role. Anyway, we sat as instructed, and another lady soon came across to us. I thought it was the same lady as she had the same arrogant tone and spoke with no passion or joy. And another upside down smile! But alas it was a different lady. Both as narked off it seems to be working in the jobs that they have decided to take on. She said the deal was only for takeaway.
With my everlasting smile, I said that this wasn’t explained two days previous when we walked in to enquire about the deal! Asking then if we could get the takeaway coffees and sit on their empty seating outside, she defiantly said no. I smiled and said okay.
She looked like she was frustrated at having to speak to us now for more than ten seconds so when my wife asked if we should stay of go, I said we should go as the woman was being a bit off with us anyway. Well, talk about a bull to a rag. Said woman (the staff lady that is, not my lovely wife!) now did speak with passion. Told me how rude I was. So apparently to call someone out for their rudeness, is rude! Well looking at other Google Reviews of this place in recent times, I am not the only one to pick up on the under par service received in this place and staff rudeness.
I can’t recall exactly how things went after her outburst but she told me in her condescending tone to have a nice day and to go somewhere else to get a better service. I am pleased to announce that is exactly what I did. A cracking coffee and joyful chat with a nearby establishment.
Lola’s should maybe Fine-tune their hiring strategy so that staff like these don’t get through the cracks. My advice to these ladies if they read this is to open your hearts and smile at your customers; put whatever negativities that you are harbouring to one side, and allow joy to creep in. This would hopefully allow for a smile to creep upon your faces, and subconsciously you will be...
Read moreWe had an awful experience yesterday, that I can only believe to be racially motivated. We simply were not welcome from the moment we walked in.
My friend and I planned on having lunch at Lola's bakery yesterday, after baby soft play at the sherriff Centre. We got there at 12:30 and it was busy with buggies so we waited. Once we returned half an hour later, the six tables at the front of the cafe were empty so we went in. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with "Where are you going?" By a bearded man behind the counter. Although I was taken aback by that, I told him that we wanted to eat and his response was " but you have two buggies?" I found his tone very off putting and we could sense he was irritated by our presence. I asked my friend if that was just my thinking and she said that she thought he was rude too. However, we thought we would stay as the waitress was very welcoming and helpful in getting us seated. We agreed that we would not be returning. I then went up to look at what was on offer, and thinking that it was any other cafe proceeded to place my order to the man at the counter. He retorted with "we will take your order at the table, sit down!" While gesturing to me like I was a child out of bounds. I was so shocked by this that I immediately went to our table and told my friend that I was leaving. As we walked out, he had a smug look on his face, looking very pleased that he achieved his primary goal.
I have never experienced such disgusting behaviour before. This was nothing but racial prejudice. We simply were not the people he is used to having in the cafe nor was our money good enough for him.
Luckily, my friend and I were able to put that awful experience behind us at #Gail'sBakery, where we were welcome.
I will not be walking into a Lola bakery ever again, nor will I buy their cakes at Brent Cross like I did...
Read moreSo it’s March 9th and they still have Christmas decorations up, I guess that explains a lot about the service here because as soon as we got in the staff were all passive aggressive.
I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but happy to make an exception on this occasion. No my name is not Karen 😜
I’ll give you a few examples of the service we received, you can decide for yourself.
1/we entered the place and wanted to have a quick look at the selection of lovely looking cakes they have before we sat down. The host coldly and rudely asked are you going to sit down or going to order to take away because you can order at the table? I said yes we are going to sit down but just wanted to have a Quick Look at what you have at the counter first, to which she replied “uhuh” and literally rolled her eyes at us.
2/We sat down to order a cappuccino and a slice of cake we recently picked out. Ordered 2 cappuccino’s and asked if it would be possible to get them with cinnamon on top and not chocolate on top, they said yes of course. However, a few minutes later they brought us 2 cappuccinos with chocolate on top. After questioning the order and after I mentioned that it was specifically not what we ordered the waiter very violently pulled the mugs off the table, stormed off back to the bar area where we heard him literally throw the coffee mugs into a plastic dirty dish tray.
The cakes and coffee were both delicious but the service was terrible and rude. I recommend you order to go or just pick...
