Great food, great price, great decor and great owner/service.
This place has been brought to life with the new ownership. The refurb has taken it from derelict to a lovely warm contemporary style cocktail/wine bar feel.
We’ve been a few times and enjoyed it and yesterdays lunch experience was no different. Great lunch deal of starter (or dessert), main & side for 12.99. The portions for the sides and starters in particular are hugely generous so much so my partner and I ordered the special (starter, side, main) for 12.99 plus a starter of spring rolls (5.99) and shared it - was more than enough for us both for a nice filling lunch. We couldn’t even finish all the garlic bread - where most places give a measly 2 slices here they give you basically a whole ciabatta loaf! The food is all lovely, fresh, home cooked, good quality ingredients (none of the frozen bought in microwave nonsense)
The prices and food are great, made even better by the always warm and welcoming host/owner. Highly...
Read moreI went for Sunday lunch in the Malt for the first time today and it was a lovely afternoon.
Upon arrival, we approached the bar and the beer selection was brilliant. There were 8 different lagers on tap which is unheard of in North London.
We looked through the menu. There was a great selection and we opted for the lamb roast. It arrived in 30 mins which is ideal. The lamb was cooked beautifully and was perfectly tender and moist. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. I'm not a big fan of veg but it was cooked very well.
Throughout the meal, the barman, Micky, was exceptionally attentive. He offered us a wide range of sauces, asked us how we were enjoying our food and if he could get us anything else. He took it to the next level by noticing when our drinks were running low and took our drinks order at the table and brought our drinks to us. He was really friendly and we had a nice chat with him.
We will...
Read moreWow, how had we missed this sneakily opening? Was really impressed with not only the transformation of the building, but how very friendly and accommodating the staff are. We popped in to just have a nosy look around, but stayed for drinks, then lunch, and more drinks. The food was beautiful and very reasonably-priced, and the chef had no issue with accommodating an allergy, even to the daily special, which was monkfish, and excellent. The music was chilled, the staff, as mentioned, were charming, and we really look forward to seeing how this place develops, and when the garden is open. There was definitely a hole in the local market for a place like this, that serves restaurant quality food, with a regularly changing menu, good drinks, including cocktails. Also look forward to re-visiting in the evening to see what the vibe is like then. But a really great start and welcome addition to the...
