Finchley Café – Second Visit, Much Improved ★★★★☆ (4.25/5 Overall – Rounded to 4 Stars)
I came in last Sunday for just a tea and left a 3-star review not bad, just felt rushed. Staff were a bit too eager and didn’t give me a moment to settle before taking my order.
This week, I came back to try both the tea and the food and overall, I’m glad I did. The experience this time was noticeably better and felt more balanced.
★ Food – ★★★★☆ (4/5) The full English was enjoyable. Everything was served hot and cooked to preference. They also catered to my custom requests, which I appreciated. Minor downside: the Cumberland sausage was slightly pink in the middle in my view, it could’ve used another minute on the grill. Because of that, I left half. That aside, toast portions were generous (borderline too much), and the beans whether Heinz or not tasted great. It’s a solid breakfast and worth coming for.
★ Service – ★★★★☆ (4/5) Better than last week. Still a bit fast-paced, but not as rushed. Staff are attentive, polite, and on point. You ask, you get. I can’t really fault them they do a good job.
★ Atmosphere – ★★★★½ (4.5/5) Both times I’ve visited, it’s been busy and that usually tells you something. There’s a good local vibe, friendly feel, and a steady flow of regulars. It’s not too noisy or too quiet just a solid café setting that clearly has loyal customers.
★ Value for Money – ★★★★½ (4.5/5) They do a reasonable job of keeping things fair while still using decent ingredients. £12 for a full breakfast with tea feels okay, especially considering London prices and rising business costs. £1.50 for a tea on its own is fair too. You’re not being ripped off, and the quality doesn’t feel cut. Respectable value here.
Final Rating Breakdown: • Food: ★★★★☆ (4/5) • Service: ★★★★☆ (4/5) • Atmosphere: ★★★★½ (4.5/5) • Value: ★★★★½ (4.5/5)
★ Total Score: 17/20 ★ Average Rating: 4.25 → Rounded to ★★★★☆ (4 Stars)

Clean and plentiful seating (40+ seats), with clean toilet for patrons.
Wide-ranging menu. Ordered the ‘set 4’ breakfast, and which was served piping hot and was absolutely delicious! Had more breakfasts that I can count at cafes and this was one of the best.
Staff welcoming and friendly and engage in conversation readily.
