Ah, the Masons Arms in Mayfair—a pub so quintessentially British that upon entering, you might just sprout a monocle and develop an insatiable craving for cricket. This establishment boasts a Tudor-inspired exterior, making it the perfect backdrop for your next medieval reenactment or spontaneous Shakespearean soliloquy.
Inside, the ambiance is as warm and inviting as a hug from your favorite grandparent, assuming your grandparent serves top-notch ales and doesn't mind a bit of friendly banter. The staff are so attentive and friendly that you might suspect they've been cloned from Mary Poppins herself.
Now, let's talk food. The menu features classic pub fare that's so delicious, it could make a vegan contemplate a carnivorous relapse. The steak and ale pie is a crowd favorite, and the fish and chips are so crispy and golden, they deserve their own Olympic medal.
In summary, the Masons Arms is the kind of place where memories are made—mostly because after a few pints, you'll need someone to remind you of them. So, don your finest tweed, practice your best "cheerio," and head over for an experience that's as British as arguing about...
Read moreWe (a group of 6 friends going back 20 years on a Christmas night out) weren't too far away in The Windmill, and were desperate to eat but it was so packed we couldn't get served. In our desparation we chanced upon a pub called The Mason's Arms. What an absolute delight!! A quaint pub with amazingly friendly staff. Nigel said the Fosters smelt of sewers, but his sense of smell is incredibly poor, and Caine had lipstick on his glass, but that was easily wiped off. The food turned up in good time and was well received. Stuart thought that the triple cooked chips were undoubtedly triple cooked, and the (Tom Kerridge) steak pie was a nice combination of pastry and steak. Barry said it was hot, which is one of his highest ever complements, and he had paid more for worse pies. Nigel thought the food was better than average, and Bob, Caine and Tim all ate theirs. Mark missed food service due to waiting at a disused underground station, but managed to get some chips, which he said were quite crunchy (although light mayonnaise is just wrong), and remained in good spirits. All in all, an excellent...
Read moreMy first meal in London was handled by the fine folks at the Masons Arms. What a terrible idea that was! Masons Arms ruined every meal I had for the week that followed because nothing was even remotely close to it in terms of great food and even better ambiance. We were looking for a good traditional British meal, and we came upon Masons Arms, a multi-level pub, that has that perfect charm that you could only dream of. We ordered the Steak and Ale pie and a Shepherd's Pie, and they were both AMAZING. When you cut through the buttery, flaky crust and into the steak and ale pie, you are engulfed with a perfume of a lovely ale. The meat inside was tender, but not mushy, and every bite was heaven. The Shepherd's Pie was no less heavenly. The mash was perfect and the mince and filling were the epitome of a traditional Shepherd's Pie.
You have lived only a half-life if you haven't been to...
