Customer service was so bad that it was borderline traumatic. Any description would be an understatement, but allow me to make an attempt.
Rolled in here late evening today, to be greeted with the manager arguing with a delivery driver. None of my business I thought, as I stood there for over 5 minutes to get any form of acknowledgment. As the self-service machines were closed at this point, I had to wait and be ignored.
Finally my order was taken. Simple process. All good. Received my order shortly after, at which point I fancied adding a drink to my meal. I asked a staff member if I could purchase my beverage, before a rude, sharp instruction to use the self-service machine which had been opened up whilst I was waiting for my food. Nothing to fret over; the attitude in the response was totally unprofessional but this was McDonalds, not a fancy restaurant in Mayfair.
Ordered my drinks. Couldn’t pay on the machine, had to pay over the counter. Judging by her readiness to have me pay on the tills, it was evident that she knew this would happen. When I told her, she showed that she knew this was going to happen. Wouldn’t have taken her long to put orders for drinks but ok. Whilst paying, I asked if my drink could have extra ice, seeing as it was 37C. She responded ‘Normal ice’. I asked for extra ice again, only to be told she will put ‘normal ice’. My partner said ‘huh’ out of confusion, and that’s when things started getting extremely inappropriate. The woman started mimicking the ‘huh’ and said she will put normal ice, kissing her teeth loudly as she started walking away. My partner said not to kiss her teeth and that’s rude, only to be told ‘what are you going to do’ or something like that. After a few exchanges, which the managers saw and ignored, the woman fulfilled the order with a lot of sass. Some Uber delivery drivers told me that’s just how she normally is.
That’s it, I thought as I made my way back to my car. Sat in, realised I was missing a cheeseburger. Went back in, spoke to the guy who took my order, told him I was missing a burger and then he too started being inappropriately rude. However, his rudeness simmered down a little once he realised the mistake, trying to dismiss it.
No wonder the staff are so rude, considering the managers too lack the proper decorum. I’m not sure why these kind of people work in customer orientated roles when they are devoid of the most basic human courtesies. They are representing the brand, and as many others have expressed, their attitude is a huge stain on the...
Read moreVisited for McFlurries and apple pies at 04:45, fifteen minutes before breakfast. As is all too common it seems McFlurries were not available despite the breakfast menu not starting or being available for another fifteen minutes. So, using the MyMcDonalds app on my phone I ordered 4 apple pies (for me and my housemates, honest!) and a large fries - a poor substitution for the unavailable McFlurries I’d been hoping for.
Once the order was received by staff behind the counter, I was summoned to speak with a server. I was then informed that apple pies were also unavailable. No offer for me to wait while some were dropped in the frier for my order was made. Instead they hoped I would accept a cold sweet item substitute. This was not acceptable to me given the absence of the McFlurries from the menu also. I reluctantly had to resign myself to not getting anything I’d actually hoped for and just asked for the fries and for the apple pies to be refunded. Disappointing all in all.
I understand there is a change in menu at this time of the mornings, but it’s a 24hr/7 day business. Either plan the menu changes and menu option availabilities better and ensure these changes are made to the online systems so they are consistent or even better, just available at the advertised times or close the restaurant for half an hour while the change over to breakfast menus is effected.
It is not clear or obvious to me or others as customers why at some arbitrary point after midnight the restaurant should turn off the McFlurry/milkshake machine when the menu states it’s products should be available. The menu design suggests to me that the McFlurries and milkshakes should be available until the breakfast menu becomes available at 5am. Surely the machine should not be turned off until 5am and cleaned then. Instead it seems the convenience for the staff supersedes the advertised service offered to customers. This seems to me to be very much against the supposed McDonalds customer service culture we’re all less to believe the...
Read moreSo I consider myself a bit of a foodie and like going out to eat in nice places... but every so often I would still need a fast food fix. Big Mac with a glass of red wine - how classy! I swear this burger is shrinking... My small glass of wine looks HUGE next to it and I used to struggle to eat one, but pretty sure I could devour two easily now.
I know it's not the most healthy or best quality meal you could have out there, but it's quick, easy and does the job. One could even consider it a balanced meal with the carbs, meat and veg. Obviously I couldn't eat this daily, but eating the same of anything daily isn't good for you either. McDonald's have been around for decades and are still going strong so they must be doing something right, right? Mmm... I think it's the infamous Big Mac sauce I crave. They need to bottle and get that stuff on sale.
One request I would like to ask of Mc Ds, is that they bring back apple pie with ice cream. Why it was taken off the menu still baffles me. When I'm desperately craving this, I end up stuffing an apple pie into a McFlurry. Not one of my finest moments, but it is soooo good and totally worth it.
Wheelchair access: No matter where you are in the city, you are bound to be within a square mile from a drive-thru. This makes it even more convenient for me, but most branches are accessible. No matter where I am in the world, I can rely on the golden arches to have toilets which I am...
