I will not be one to complain much on the day, but will always write an honest review. I visited here with my family for a Birthday, booked a month in advance and had to pay a £100 deposit for the booking. Never had to do that before. Turned up on the day and our table wasn't even set up for us, no one seemed to care that we had made a reservation, we were pointed to a more undesirable location because all of the other areas had been filled up, and we ended up having to push the tables together ourselves anyway. If you're going to pay that much of a deposit then the table should be reserved. The food was nice enough, I did enjoy the Egusi although I ordered only fried fish in it because I am pregnant and cannot at any cost risk getting sick, I did end up with a dodgy stomach the next morning regardless, but I didn't initially solely blame that on the restaurant as pregnancy causes you to be more prone to getting ill even if food is only slightly not fresh. However I then heard from my husband that he also had an issue with his stomach next morning which is rare for him, this man has a stomach and gut of steel. The Oha taste like curry powder water, it didn't taste good at all, but they did swap this without an issue to another soup of choice. To buy an extra pounded yam is £4.99 which is extortionate price when it is poundo and not even real yam pounded. I can make this at home for much less, and most restaurant will only charge a couple of pounds more. I couldn't justify paying this much. Food was bought out at different times and some people had to wait more than 15 minutes after the other dishes came out. Also they would bring out the soup but make us wait 10 minutes to get the yam to go with it, the food started to go cold at this point. They did bring out the cake with sparklers and sang Happy birthday which was nice. Finally, when it came to paying, I asked about my refundable deposit and was told I could use it towards the bill, which I chose to do, however later the male manager came out rudely demanding to know which name I booked under. It's funny how they didn't care about my booking until it involves money. When I offered to show my receipt of bank transfer he rudely stormed off again. Oh well.
Overall service needs huge improvement. Food should come out together, not separately, soups should not be without their staples...etc. When you make a booking a pay a huge deposit you should have a table reserved in a desirable location.
I wanted to visit again but for the buffet with only my husband, but now I'm not so sure. If I'm honest, I prefer a quick visit to the Ilford branch.
Many thanks for the...
Read moreI had friends coming from abroad & we decided to go to Enish. I have been here before & aside from it being over priced I like the food. This Sunday - I ordered Asun - I was served pure bones. When I tried to address this, staff who served me agreed it was pure bones but they could not do anything & called the manager. This very self observed ignorant human presented herself. Full of attitude & no intention to address or listen. Has zero customer service skills - informed me that “ she eats Asun all the time & it’s basically bones & no meat”. As though I have never eaten Asun or I don’t know what I ordered. She further stated that I needed to address this at the point the food was brought. I advised her we had been pressing the call button with no one coming & as we had been conversing, time passed by. I had a video of when the plate was brought to me & several photos so she can not insinuate that I have eaten & I don’t want to pay. She was not interested in looking at the problem at all. She proceeded to say she has to call staff to confirm if I mentioned the problem when the food was brought. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter when the food was brought, you have a paying customer telling you they are NOT happy with your food or service but your response is “let me ask my staff if you were unhappy 10 minutes ago?” KMT. The Asun is £16 & in all honesty, if there had been some meat, it wouldn’t be so much of an issue but I practically ordered Asun, plantain & Fanta. I was not paying £16 for approximately 8 bones with zero meat. That is the point. This very simple lady with no clue could not understand at all. The poor waiter offered to pay £10 towards this for me but I declined because this was not even about money. By the time am attending the restaurant, I am more than capable of paying for my own food. The manager said she was not changing the food nor would she even try to offer an apology or a gesture of goodwill. Nothing. She rolled her eyes & left. I proceeded to pay £16 for the bones 🦴. My friends asked to pack their food, they were then charged £4 for containers 🤦🏾♀️. No one had said anything about containers are charged. Honestly, I will NOT be coming back or recommending this place to anyone. It’s a shame because we do try to support our community & local businesses but no thanks - there is no way am paying extortionate amounts for very small portions or bad food. And I love Asun- best place to get this 💯 is this little grill place in Grays - starboy grill - you will never buy Asun anywhere else again. Please see photos of Enish Asun for £16. I wish I could post the food from the other restaurant to...
Read moreTerrible experience and poor customer service I can here with a group of 6 friends. It was our first time eating here Our waiter was not very welcoming at first and when we asked if we could order a different side with the main meal of fish.l.e if we could have jellof rice instead of the pounded yam he said NO. So we ended up ordering something else. He did warm up later on into the service The manager was completely unprofessional when a friend complained about her food the manager arrived with her arms crossed like she was already ready for a fight. Her attitude was very poor she offered no resolution and blamed my friend for complaining too late ( even though she had told the waiter and also pressed the buzzer for tabke service several times and waiters were just stood around talking too eating doing nothing). To add insult ro injury, the manager also went to call the waiter who had served my friend her food and questioned the waiter in front of us to try and dispute the complaint that was being made. It was very unprofessional and insulting to those who witnessed the conversation . I. Can't imagine how humiliating it was also for the waiter. In the end she refused to attempt to resolve the complaint about the food and told my friend that she has eaten that food (Amayse) several times and that is how the meal comes basically implying that my friend knew nothing about the meal that she had ordered which is far from the truth. Lastly when I asked for containers to pack the food I was not told that they charge £1 per take away container and only found out when I looked at my Bill that this was added onto the bill. After explaining this to the manager she initially said quite bluntly we have always charged £1 for takeaway containers. I did let her know that this was my first time eating there, and the waiter had not explained to me when I asked for containers that there was a charge. She did take this off the bill eventually. Lastly, the food tasted like it was microwaved from frozen .I had the chicken Egusi which tasted watery and sandy. A friend ordered jellof rice which tasted like it was not fresh and very dry. The only positive thing was the decor of the venue. Unfortunately I will not be returning to...
