Cake and Custard Factory (Peckham) — Restaurant in London

Amazing cakes but more importantly amazing service!!

I’ve been to the cake and custard factory in Commerical road (Aldgate branch) and the one in Kingsland road (dalston branch) and now the Peckham one, as I was passing by the area.

Popped in for the school cake and automatically saw a difference in the store compared to the others.

Nice music which brings out a vibe in the shop. Great variety of cakes. But customer service is amazing compared to the other branches.

Went in while the shop had a few customers in but I was acknowledged and was told I will be served shortly there was customers before me.

There was a young lady who served me and was so friendly and welcoming, greeting me as soon as I came through the door. As I was looking around the cakes a young guy came in (believe it’s the store manager) and started speaking with me, asking me is it my first time, what he would recommend me, what type of cake fan I am etc and this made me buy more than I wanted.

I went in for a pink school cake and custard and he pointed out that there is a deal called ‘The Meal Deal’ which is £5 where you get a cake, custard and slush. I asked does the other branches do it as I have not seen it he said they do, just ask next time (I think other stores need to advertise this deal)

Where I would’ve just got a cake and custard I ended up spending £20+ And do not regret it!

This is my go to branch from now on just due to the service and friendly atmosphere in this place and the quick service compared to the other branches. The staff look happy to be there, I remember my experience in the Aldgate branch where staff seemed so unbothered and no sense of customer service :(

I do not write negative reviews very often, but I feel that it is important to share my experience with this cake shop so that others are better informed. The shop is promising looking from the outside, but the customer service could not be further from the truth of that first impression. The staff, mainly those at the counter, do not seem to respect their customers or even the delivery drivers, they raise their voices at delivery drivers, show dismissive body language, and simply say rude things. The staff raise their voices at a delivery driver who was merely attempting to confirm an order. They had open conversations when ordered delivery, which were audible to those in the shop. Professionalism is basic courtesy, and the whole culture of any customer-facing business is built on that understanding between customers and the people serving the customers, especially in the food industry! This shop has a ways to go on that path to be sure. Until they learn to treat people, customers and people, in a dignified and professional manner, I cannot...

The cakes were amazing we ordered 5 pieces of differents cakes as we were 4 people on there me and my family. They were tested at home once we got them from the shop and they were absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I can not put you up 5 stars because the young guy that was there on saturday attending costumers was wearing earphones when we arrived and he kept the earphones on while we were ordering our pieces. I had to scream to make me understand clear. I think this is very unprofessional and unrespectful atend the costumers with earphones on. I just want to help the CEO to improve his business.
