This doesn't allow for a zero star review. On Friday afternoon 23rd April 2021 myself and my sister went into Nawal to buy sweet and savory goods. Alongside many other sweets, 8 chicken samosas and a box of Kaja were purchased too. All items were refrigerated as soon as I got home. At Iftaar when I heated up the samosas, they smelt off, I cut up 6 of the samosas in half and I plated it up for my family. The samosas were off, they smelt off and they were slimy to taste. I threw put the cut up samosas. When went to eat the kaja, they tasted so old, stale and hard, if I had had filling in my teeth they would have come out. I put the kaja and the remaining 2 samosas to take back to the store. Bearing in mind that I lived in N1 do it wasn't a short journey back to the store. The next day, Saturday 24th April I went into the store and spoke to a man behind the counter, I was told to wait for the manager. After 10 minutes the manger signaled for me to go over to him. I explained that the items I bought back were past their sell by date. Well what ensued is nothing short of thuggery and the utmost unprofessional behaviour from a business owner. He refused to give me a refund or exchange, claiming his goods were within date, he stuck his nose into the samosas and said they smelt fine. The kaja was made on the 23rd April as it was time stamped. I explained yes it may be times stamped but it fell short of saleable quality. He then argued with me in front of other customers. Told me as I didn't have a receipt he would not be able to see proof of purchase. Please note the kaja box was labeled with their brand name and time stamped. I showed him my online bank account which clearly showed him the time, date, and total of the sale. He still refuse to refund me the money. He told me to come back at the end of the day. I explained that I was not a local and I had specifically travelled from Hackney to Ilford for this. He then told me I had to wait 30 minutes whilst he checked his sale record. I waited patiently. 30 minutes came and passed. My sister came to find it what was the delay. The manager started speaking to her and saying he cannot help and it could take several hours. My sister said to the manager that his behaviour was disgusting and that he need not bother with the refund, she left the store and went back to her car. I asked the manager for my goods back, (I wanted to keep it for evidence for trading standards) he told me he had thrown it out. I pointed out that it was behind him on the worktop. He then picked up the bag and walked to the back of the store and threw the bag into the bin. I took my phone out to film him. And this is where I was physically abused. This 6ft tall man came out and he grabbed hold of my phone, he couldn't get the phone out of my grip. He then pushed me so hard I nearly fell back. Another man who had been behind the counter joined in and he started dragging me out the store. My sister saw this and came rushing in from her car. These 2 6ft plus men pushed and shoved me to the front of the store. They were abusive and disgusting. All this was done in front of customers inside and outside the store. A police report has been filed and on Monday I shall be reporting this to trading standards. I have some footage of the...

Visited the Barkingside branch today to buy a samosa. Asked specifically for a fresh samosa multiple times to the big lady in a black hijab and abaya. Asked the lady for a fresh vegetable samosa and I could clearly tell they weren't. So I asked how long the new batch was coming in as only 2 were left. She said the new samosas were coming in now. I asked multiple times to her and her colleague a dark skinned worker for a fresh piece and both said they would bring it and pretended to go to the back with with old samosa tray and get it. Paid for it and collected it and as soon as I left the store I can tell it was the same old cold vegetable samosas that were sitting at the front and not the fresh ones I had requested. Its not about the price. Its about the specific unfriendly and unwelcoming atmosphere, poor service quality, poor food quality and the FACT that the worker lied and gave me the opposite of the item I had specifically requested multiple times. The food quality is absolutely below standard and the item gave me an upset stomach later which has never happened with the better brands like Ambala or Nirala so it is no surprise that they barley have any customers as others recognise this fact too. Would have given this review 0.There's absolutely no reason for workers to be dishonest with the customers and try to trick them. Besides this the food tastes terrible, wouldn't recommend! Instead try the better alternatives like Cakes and Bakes in Barkingside or Ambala and Nirala in Ilford which have not only good customer service quality but clearly superior mithai and savoury options and won't trick their customer! Thanks, never...

I have been going to Nawals since it opened in ilford lane. I have always been purchasing Jalebi, ladoo and shakar pa, i never really questioned the servers on price of items. On this visit I did and server gave me the prices of the shakar pa and ladoo. So I ordered the ladoo first and then while weighing it Daniyal(server) asked if the was anything else i wanted. I said ues and ordered the sakar pa. To which he put the shakar pa in the same box and charged me the price for mixed mitai. When i questioned why he charged me a higer rate per Kg he said because it mixed. So he tried to deceive me by charging the higher rate. I explained I wanted them separate and charged at the correct rate per kg. ISLAMICALLY THAT IS WRONG AND THERE IS A HADITH THAT STATES THAT. To cut a long story short and to get to the point keep an eye out on the weighing machine as they charge the wrong prices per kg. Also why do they not mark the prices clearly by the product in stead of on a pricelist on the back wall where people can't see them clearly? Daniyal was extremely rude and refused to give his name and the managers name , so i had to ask his colleague for the details. I would say to management train your staff proper customer service and try get them to do things in a halal manner. I won't be going back after this experience so you have lost my custom and would not be recommending your...

Very disappointed with the sweets. I am a sweet lover and love to try sweets from different shops. This is the first time I am trying the sweets from Nawal and I am very disappointed with how it tastes. I can taste that none of these sweets are made in ghee. I can taste oil in it. The Mysore pak is made in coconut oil not in ghee and it taste like oil. It’s okay even it’s made in oil but atleast it should taste like Mysore pak. This tastes like something mixed in too much of coconut oil. I can even see a lot of oil in the pak. This is the worst mysore pak I have ever tried . Then I tried the Patisa Lacha which has clearly mentioned butter in the ingredients but it’s definitely not made with butter it is oil. Most of their sweets are made in oil to save money and making people fool. Never going back to Nawal and definitely not recommending. There is lots of other sweet shops which serves the best.

Been going to this store for ages on weekly basis. Got 4 boxes of mithai today and returned back to the shop within an hour as one of the mithai had a piece of steel scourer. (As in the picture) How can be they so irresponsible while making sweets. Nothing against the people working in this store but still cannot believe how their quality is dropping. If we are paying so much for their products this is not what the quality should be. Now need to be careful if I buy again from Nawal! Really disappointed as could have got sick with it.

Update: Issue Addressed Nawal has refunded me for the expired halwa, which is appreciated. While the initial experience was disappointing, I’m glad they took action to resolve the issue. Original Review: Warning: expired product !! Purchased Multani halwa only to find it expired well before the best before date. Staff were unhelpful when I raised the issue. Beware and double-check your purchases!
