I work in one of the office buildings nearby and noticed this café during the workday. We live very close therefore decided to come in on a beautiful Sunday morning with my partner to enjoy the cozy ambiance while reviewing a formal document on my iPad. Initially, the experience was pleasant until a staff member politely informed us that the café has a policy against using tablets or laptops. They explained that when the café first opened, they struggled with seat availability due to the number of customers using devices for extended periods, leaving those in the queue without a place to sit.
I expressed my understanding and even offered to vacate our seats if a queue formed. At the time, the café was fairly empty. However, the staff insisted that we put away the iPad and suggested using our phones instead. I explained that my partner is currently dealing with a mild eye infection and needs to avoid small screens. The staff member acknowledged this and left politely.
To our surprise, about 20 minutes later, the manager approached us again, reiterating the request to put away the iPad, despite the café becoming increasingly empty. While they didn’t ask us to leave, the repeated insistence to stop using our iPad was disappointing, especially given the circumstances and the lack of a crowd. Overall we stayed at the seat for about an hour and left with surprise.
If you need a place where you can work for a short time while enjoying a coffee, I wouldn't recommend this one. There are other cafés nearby with better quality coffee that you can...
Read moreThe pastries here are fine. I thought the almond croissant was passable. The space is nice. Bright and a good amount of seating, but nothing worth writing home about.
The coffee, on the other hand, is really exceptional. This has to be the most extraordinary coffee experience I've ever had in any cafe, London or otherwise. I ordered a pour over and, feeling awkward about standing over the baristas shoulder, sat down at a table to wait. Still, after she'd ground the beans, she walked them over to the table so I could get a whiff (and of course they smelled complex and delicious). The attention to detail when pouring was also impressive. And of course, the coffee itself tasted great. I've never had a cup with more balanced acidity and sweetness (it was the Luis Marcelino beans, for curious parties).
I should also note that the baristas were exceptional. As I've outlined above, they obviously know what they're doing and make an outstanding cuppa joe. However, I was even more impressed by how personable they were about the whole experience. Coffee culture can feel a bit pretentious at times, but they were more than willing to meet me where I was at as someone not so knowledgable. They also worked in their own personal tastes, experiences, backgrounds in a way that I found refreshing.
Oh and the pour over is obviously an expensive drink. But remember to treat yourself every once in a while, it's...

A standout on the menu is their freeze-distilled flat white, which is an absolute must-try. The freeze-distillation process enhances the natural sweetness and richness of the milk, blending perfectly with the smooth, complex espresso. It’s a delightful twist on a classic drink, creating a creamier, more intense flavor that coffee enthusiasts will love.
