I had heard numerous positive reviews about Notes being a delightful place to work and savour a coffee, but my recent visit was an absolute nightmare, leaving me with no desire to ever set foot near again.
To my dismay, the owner, a self-righteous individual, decided to grace my friend and me with his uninvited presence. In a contemptuous tone, he informed us that we had been loitering for "quite long enough" and asserted, "I saw you come in." The audacity! We were anything but disruptive! On the contrary, we had courteously ordered coffees, juices, and a bite to eat, making an effort to support their business. Furthermore, the cafe was relatively empty at that time, so his claim was baseless. The sheer humiliation we endured at his hands was unparalleled.
It is astonishing how someone in a customer-oriented business can exhibit such abhorrent behavior without any regard for decency or respect. I wholeheartedly believe that respectful communication should be a fundamental requirement for anyone, regardless of their position, gender, or age. Yet, this older man saw it fit to intimidate two young women, subjecting us to a public spectacle of humiliation that was entirely unwarranted and utterly inappropriate.
As if the owner's outrageous conduct wasn't enough, the rest of the staff glared at us with hostility as we exited the premises. It was a nauseating display of collective unprofessionalism and an unwelcoming environment that made us feel as if we were troublemakers, despite our courteous behaviour.
To conclude, my experience at Notes was an absolute disaster. The owner's rude and intimidating demeanour, coupled with the staff's unwarranted hostility, created an atmosphere far from the pleasant ambiance I had been led to believe. I implore others to steer clear of this disgraceful establishment, as they clearly lack the most basic principles of respect and customer service. It is a stain on the hospitality industry, and no one should subject themselves to such...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice brunch menu including eggs, granola, porridge, pancakes, pastries, smoothies and more. I normally go on the weekend, my local branch. Everything I have tried has been good, can't complain. If you go, avoid peak times as the branch is small, seats are really tightly packed together and it is super busy. There are some tables outside too. Food is great as is coffee. Staff are friendly and pleasant. My issue is service efficiency. As I said staff are pleasant enough. There appears to be enough of them but service is super slow. You can wait forever to get a menu or order if you don't call someone. I normally just go to the counter to pay when I have finished eating, as asking for the bill takes another 10 minutes. I just don't think that they work together and they can't seem to cope when it gets busy. They also need to clean. Tables and floors are often left dirty. I asked for a glass of tap water today when I was there and the glass was dirty. A nice place and I go regularly but they need to tighten up on service and hygiene sometimes. Very...
Read moreWell another review about the poor customer service at Notes. Good: Coffee was alright. Bad: Customer service. I went there with my family and the manager, had her laptop at the only table where I could fit the baby's pram. I very kindly and politely asked if I could sit at that table given that I needed to fit the pram there, the manager was clearly not happy about this and muttered something (there were 10+ other tables available). She then took our order with a scowl, the coffees were served and nobody came to see if wanted anything else or if we wanted to pay. I waited about 15 mins but the manager was sat at another table with her back to us working on her laptop and never came back. I went to pay myself at the till which is fine, but they included £0.95 service charge which is ridiculous. I am always surprised at how someone who works in customer service can seem so inconvenienced by paying customers. Sorry that I offended you by asking to sit...
