Pret A Manger — Restaurant in London

I absolutely love this shop of Pret à Manger! Not only do they have delicious coffee and pastries, but the staff is incredibly kind and friendly. I recently placed a large order at this location (70 baguettes) and was impressed with how well the staff handled it. They ensured that my order was prepared to my specifications and served promptly. I especially want to thank Mario and his team - their dedication to their job is truly inspiring. The attention to detail and care they put into each order really sets this coffee shop apart. However, I do miss the extended opening hours that were in place last year - I wish they would return to being open until 8:00pm. Despite this, I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a welcoming atmosphere, great coffee, plenty of seats downstairs, few tables outside for some fresh air, and exceptional service. Horrible service – thanks for ruining my lunch break. I was asked whether I wanted my food to be eat-in or takeaway, and I clearly said eat-in. I was charged accordingly—only to find out there were no seats available and the entire first floor was closed due to “issues.”

Why even charge for eat-in if you have no seating available? Makes absolutely no sense.

When I asked where to sit, the staff member just disappeared, saying, “Sorry, it’s closed!” and that was it. Completely unhelpful. I then spoke to the barista, who somehow made things worse—he claimed I would be refunded, yet still made me pay for the food.

The whole ordeal wasted over 15 minutes of my already short break, and the place was uncomfortably hot inside (30°C outside, no air circulation inside). No use of the toilet was allowed either.

I won’t be coming back—and...

I visit Pret at least once a day and like to think I have been a loyal customer for many years now. Regretfully I feel recently service and quaility has taken a nose dive. Last week I went into St Johns Wood and another customer with a dog came into the shop where the dog proceeded to urinate all over the chair. The lady completely ignored what her dog had done so I said to her - do you think its accetable that your dog has just urinated all over a chair - she was rude and abusive back. Not once did any of the staff who were aware of what was going on say anything or take any action - least clean the soiled leg of the chair!. An animal should not be allowed into a place serving food and secondly if this is acceptable behaviour allowed then I won't be visiting another Pret anymore due to it not being very clean...
