I have never been more captivated and hit with such an experience. Detailed review is down below but here's the tldr: This place ticks every checkmark for a top tier coffee/breakfast place and exceeds beyond. The variety of fresh and different coffees (more than just the classic espresso, americano, etc.), actually amazing breakfast options made in an open kitchen, fresh pastries that feel like they were made at home, overall coffee shop vibes, AND ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, GENIUNE, FRIENDLY (not in a forced polite way, the genuine friend way) STAFF (Thank you Josh. You are an incredible waiter and kindness you shared with me felt so genuine. Luca, you're an absolute legend. The omlette was soul-touching.), make this place a top 5 food place for me period. Now, detailed review:
Quick background: I am from the U.S and am visiting London and am a vegetarian (eat eggs) and have an allergy to tree nuts.
Allergies: GREAT PLACE for people with allergies. Menu has indicated common allergens like nuts to make it so much easier to order food and removes a lot of stress. Be mindful that the kitchen does use tree nuts in the kitchen itself but nothing directly in the foods indicated in the menu.
Portion sizes: Top tier. Not too small, not too big in my opinion but this topic might be subjective depending on who we're talking to.
Food and Coffee themselves: For coffee, I got the Aeropass. 10/10, feels like black coffee but with vibrant and colorful flavors and hints. Strong enough to wake you up yet flavorful to make you feel good about it. I got the 3-egg omlette. I forgot the description, but it was amazing. I saw Luca make it live in front of me in the open kitchen and tasted amazing, rich, and one of the online english/american omlettes that already had so much flavor in itself that I didn't need to add external salt/pepper. I was tempted so I also got the banana bread. ......They toasted it warm ...... and served it with spreadable salted butter......you cannot get any better. I am a sucker for banana bread even though I have an allergy to Tree Nuts (this one is nut free unless you choose to add nut butter which I did not) and this one might just top all the ones I have tried so far. Couldn't help but let out a slight chuckle as a I took my first bite. Soul-touching.
Staff: Picture one of those bartenders who just has the most real and genuine conversations with you every Thursdays you go in and sit down and ask for your usual, like you've done this for years and you talk about anything and everything. The staff here feel like just those kind of bartenders. It blew my mind when Luca continued a conversation, while he worked in the open kitchen in front of me, like we knew each other for a year at least after I complimented him for making the banger omlette I was blessed to eat. We talked about a lot of the differences between U.S and London and laughed about food quality in different countries. (Happy Birthday Luca! :D) The whole staff gave off similar vibes, seemed like they all have great chemistry, and felt like a single unit more than separate individual workers. Contributed greatly to the lively yet comforting atmosphere of the place.
Atmosphere/Environment: Pure coffee-shop vibes but bigger and add an open kitchen. Super lively yet comforting like I mentioned above. There are some places to work/study and there's plenty of noise going around (but the good kind like talking amongst others and other filler noise good for studying for those that enjoy it). People seem to always be present in early breakfast times but never seemed too crowded.
Tips: Sidenote: If you ever decide to leave an extra tip, it is important to know that most of the tips DO NOT go towards the staff as Ozone is apparently a chain across London.
This whole review came from a single first-time visit. It's a top 5 food place of all time for me at the moment. It is a must for anyone in the area. Would take family, friends, hopefully even a date someday here at any chance given....
Read moreThis cafe is one of my favourites. The decor, the food (great vego, vegan, or gf options), the atmosphere, the service, everything was just top notch. Even the prices were reasonable for this kind of place. I'll be back if ever I'm in London again, that's for sure.
We stumbled upon it completely by accident, just walking towards a different place google maps had recommended, saw the sign for Ozone down the street, disappointed by the look of the original goal place, we decided to stop by and check out Ozone.
We walked in and immediately knew this was the place we wanted to have Sunday brunch in. House plants hanging from the walls, wooden tables, chairs, and floorboards, chic hanging lamps and large windows for lighting, freshd and desserts on the front counter, coffee roasting downstairs (!!!), a giant street-art-style work on a wall, brick wall in other parts, the perfect level of cafe buzz - enough to create a nice ambiance but quiet enough that we didn't have to shout to be heard.
One delightful but unusual aspect was how large the window-facing bar/tables was. In most cafes the spots facing the window are at a table/bar/counter just large enough for your plate and mug. Here, we had space, we weren't cramped! I could have comfortably sat with my laptop and my plate and my mug and possibly my camera too, all in a line between me and the window. It wasn't too huge, it was just the right size. And this wasn't compensated by being squishy behind us either, we weren't knocked or disturbed at all by people going past, because there was plenty of room between our benches and the front counter with desserts and payments as well.
The waitstaff were very welcoming and friendly, and the service very rapid despite being a busy Sunday morning. When we needed more time with the menu they were cheery about giving us that time, and seemed to appear out of nowhere just when we were ready to order!
The food. The food was soooo good! They have some pretty standard, delicious brunch fare with a little twist here and there for those feeling less adventurous, like pancakes with bacon and chocolate sauce, or eggs any-way on scrumptious bread, or banana bread, or granola. For the adventurous, there are some awesome options. Also so many good options for vegetarians, vegans, gluten free etc. I had scrambled silken tofu with chickpea masala, fermented chili caponata, fennel and dukkah on a delicious slice of rye bread. Incredibly delicious, and a perfect portion - not enormous, but perfectly satisfying. My friend had beetroot and cumin fry-bread with crushed avo, smoked yoghurt, spring leaves, apple, and poached egg, which was also completely scrumptious.
I'm not a coffee drinker but my friend said the flat white was fantastic. The hot chocolate that I had was very good. Not the usual mediocre Cadbury powder ones I often get at cafes, but a good quality one, not overly sugary.
For two drinks and two meals we payed £29. Not cheap at all, but pretty standard for a good breakfast/brunch place like...
Read moreOld street, a place are quite a character. On one side, it is a scene of high-tech startup, which is called Silicon Roundabout; on the other side, it is a scene full of creativity, heavy and bold colours of street arts, very East London. In a word, exciting and thriving, so is the coffee shop I checked this time nearby.
London Coffee Shop for Digital Nomads-22 Ozone Coffee Roasters
Category: Artisan roastery’s coffee shop
WIFI: Reliable and free to use (need to register)
Seating: They have a long bar stool and bench with big glass windows, which gets lots of natural lights even in such a cloudy day. And there are many tables and chairs inside as well as some stools by the open kitchen. Totally around 50-55 seats. You could find some power sockets near the window. Very handy place and completely full when I visited it in the afternoon.
Ambience: The interior design is warehouse style with strong aroma of fruity coffee and the huge flavour of omelettes…egg…and cheese?!… What a contradiction! But it just works very well! Many office worker nearby come over. The staff is very friendly and patient, and they bring you a bottle of water and a cup when you are waiting.
Cost: Coffee £2.4-£2.6 Filter Coffee £3-£8 Tea £2.5-£3.0 Food(Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch) £6-£12.5
Something special about the cafe: (1) They have onsite bakery for breakfast, lunch and snacks, with an open kitchen. (2) You could visit their un-refurbished basement space where the coffee beans are roasted, pretty cool experience. (3) The coffee is really good and you could feel the fruit aroma, especially the...
