I was so disappointed when Paramount closed a few months after we moved to Wood Green for the first time. I quickly realised it was the only restaurant in Wood Green and it was just a short walk from our living room. Before it closed (we recently realised was only temporary), we managed to visit the establishment about 3 times. The experience was very consistent each time. We went during the week a couple times and it had been quite empty (as far as I remember). The staff have always been very relaxed, they don't mind communicating with you across the room. I think we have been seated in exactly the same seat every time which adds to the consistency of the experience. the food is very good value for money and very very good. The portions are the perfect size. Every time we (2 people) get 3 vegetable dishes, one rice, papadams to start and 2 mango juices. The food arrives very quickly and costs less than £30 for the whole meal! I love the crockery and napkin art. I love the water feature. I love how the wooden screens befuddle my peripheral vision and the sound of the radio and water feature adds a layer of white noise over our conversation. Paramount manages to maintain a high level of client privacy (and therefore feeling of relaxation and safety) even in an empty restaurant. Roughly a month ago now I was so excited and apprehensive (in case I was wrong) when I noticed builders inside the restaurant (it was closed for about 4 months now), it soon became clear they were refurbishing the facade. It looks great! We finally had a chance to visit Paramount this (Friday) evening. There was a big party showing up just as we were finishing our meal. The restaurant filled up quickly after we arrived first at about 7pm. It had a fun and interesting atmosphere. I strongly recommend this restaurant if you live anywhere in north London or happen to be in Wood Green for...
Read moreFirst impressions last with me big time. I live in a very Turkish area with the best restaurants and customer service. So where do i begin with this restaurant and why i gave them one star. I sat down and waited a while for someone to take my order. I asked the restaurant before i sat down the prices and they confirmed it to me and i asked them over five times. Now i asked as i had the exact money on what i was going to buy, so i was mindful on what to order. I ordered my food, service was okay, food okay - a bit too oily, and to be honest i prefer my Indian cooking then this restaurants, not the best i have had but eatable. I go to pay my bill and it was double what it should have been, when i questioned them that they told me a different story, they denied it. I have travelled the world including India, and i have never been blatantly lied to about this to my face. I asked them FIVE TIMES and yet they failed to keep their word. The funny thing is my friend warned me about this place i ignored her and decided to take my own chance. But im sorry to say she was right. I then told my Bangladeshi friends about my experience and they apologised on their behalf saying we are not like this I am so sorry you had dishonest staff at this restaurant and then said DO NOT GO THERE AGAIN... like hell i will. Bad customer service and lying to get customers is appaling . SO WRONG ESPECIALLY DURING THESE TRYING TIMES. ESPECIALLY WHEN I have Bengali friends who were mortified and embarrassed when i relayed the story about these lying thieves. DONT GO THERE AVOID `SO MANY GOOD RESTAURAUNTS IN WOOD GREEN LIKE THE TURKISH ONES. Disgusting i will not be going...
Read moreWhat can I say? Stereotypical once again from a Indian restaurant. The main waiter catering to specific customers. The starters took 50 mins to come. The main waiter greeting every "specific type" of customer..asking, talking about the experience. With me, totally ignored, food was late, the lamb chops was rushed and chewy. Appalling stereotypical behaviour from the restaurant. Fed up of restaurant picking and choosing which customers to give out good service and which customers to give out appalling service. Fair to say....I won't be bring my staff here for new years booking again and will ensure anyone else in the wood green area don't come to this restaurant. Also to fix the issue, ensure the head waiter with the "heavy" British accent gives out great service to ALL the customers and not just a selected few and just think of the "money". In this case you will lose out on alot of business. Thankfully there are some excellent Indian restaurants around. One in Palmers Green and another in Angel. Where they cater to ALL customers. This restaurant really need to make sure customer service is on point. It's what separates what's a good restaurant. Comment on the food. Starter lamb chops was to chewy and didn't seem cooked. The main lamb bhuna with rice, the rice portion was small, which is unheard of in a Indian restaurant. The restaurant wasn't busy for Xmas eve yet it took 50 mins to get the starters and the owner/main waiter being annoying and chatting to his selected chosen customers and ignoring me. Not even a decent "how's the food" which he was seemed to be doing almost too frequently with the others. Such a...
