PizzaExpress — Restaurant in London

The service was appalling when I visited (and the restaurant was fairly quiet with only about 3 other tables with customers). As the customer, I had to get up and go to the back of the restaurant to ask for someone to take our order, as after being seated our table was left unattended for a prolonged period of time. There appeared to be multiple waiters sitting at the back of the restaurant, away from the customers, having their break. The waiter who eventually took our order was very friendly and helpful, but unfortunately he did not seem to be familiar with the dishes and drinks on the menu. He struggled to name the dishes and drinks when he brought them to our table. Another customer who arrived after us got their food before our table. The food was pretty good, although one of the pizzas was overdone by the chef. (We were offered another if it was not satisfactory). When it came to paying the bill, once again there were no waiters around. As customers, we had to get up to find someone to pay for our meals. Tables where other customers had sat and left were not cleaned up and left dirty for a long time, making the atmosphere unpleasant to dine in. The service at this restaurant needs improving. Awful branch of pizza Express! I went there with the little ones and although there was only one large party there who had already finished eating, our mains took over 39 minutes to arrive! I lost count after actively being a clown to pacify the kids! They had no colouring pencils or paper to keep them occupied! The food was very bad. Chef must have used the whole tin of tomatoes to make the bolognese - which had 16 pieces of pasta in it! I actually counted the pasta because there was so much tomato sauce that I had to make sure the pasta was actually there! I think the pizza was ok because that's all they would eat from what we ordered! The waitress, whilst nice, forgot to bring all our drinks but they get a one star because the ice cream was nice! The tables however, were so dirty as I discovered when I had to wipe ice cream off kids faces and mess on the table and couldn't even wipe the centre of the table clean because of all the grime! The wipe turned black! I will not be going back! But, if by some unfortunate reason I ended up back there, I will be taking pictures as evidence to post! That will be if I am minus the kids and don't need to give them my phone to distract them from the awful food...

I stopped eating here during lunch breaks when on a quiet restaurant the waiter got the order of a 6 ppl table before us two. A year later I went back to see if the service got any better, that was yesterday. It was the worst service I've ever received in London.

The table next to us arrived after, and got their drinks before we could even place an order The waitress looked very frustrated and didn't even looked me in the eyes when answering questions The water we ordered (not an exciting drink, I know) never got to our table, so we used the office bottle I had in my backpack The pizzas arrived in the hands of a manager that told us it was hard to find us after we moved, we never did To get somebody to bring the bill after we finished looked nearly impossible, so we put our jackets on and moved towards the till with our credit cards in hand. At that point the waitress stopped us like we were running away without paying At the payment, it turned out somebody really assigned us to the wrong table, on a relatively quiet week evening.

I can't find an excuse for all of those things, new staff members maybe? What is sure is that I will never go there again, not even with the 241 coupon I...
