staff is lovely & polite (4 stars). food is below average (2 stars). They need to get the balanced right. for example- Bhatura should always be a puffed up bread when served, however, here, it felt like it’s made by someone who may lack skills. When someone comes to eat in a restaurant, they look for something they cant make at home & it carries a unique flavour. Professional cooking is a unique skill. Otherwise whats the point of eating out if its below basic. i think thats the key issue in UK - someone who may think they can cook, they open up a restaurant without grasping key skills. if you ever get a chance to go to India, you will see that people in India running small restaurants are actually quite skilled as they target perfection on daily basis for each customer. In the UK, a lot of people gets into opening up restaurants but mostly they carry no real passion or real skills to main consistency on daily basis. Sholley (chickpea curry) were quite salty. They served me Halwa/ Karah (sweet pudding) and it was a mix of orange colour halwa and a non colour halwa - almost like some left overs mixed up and served to me - if you notice other people picture with similar plate, you will see there is quite a difference in colours for this halwa and even colours for Sholley (chick pea) varies too. Its Southall and standards should be high considering it’s a hub for Punjabis. Paronthe were good (3 star). Masala Tea (0 star) - I was quite shocked with it - I am Punjabi myself and I think they are doing something seriously wrong with their tea. Again, staff is polite and lovely but food quality & standards requires attention. Hope this feedback will help...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. My family and I stumbled upon this place, attracted by its inviting exterior. Little did we know that this would be the start of a thoroughly unpleasant evening.
Upon entering, we were left standing for what felt like an eternity before someone finally acknowledged us and took our order—nearly half an hour later. We specifically requested the chicken biryani to be mild as it was intended for a child, and the other dishes to be prepared with standard spice levels.
To our dismay, the chicken biryani arrived excessively spicy and utterly tasteless, completely unsuitable for a child. The other dishes were bland and equally unappetizing, lacking any discernible flavor. When we raised our concerns with the wait staff, they were dismissive and offered no resolution or apology.
To add insult to injury, upon receiving the bill, I noticed a £3.18 gratuity charge added without my consent. This blatant disregard for customer choice is beyond unacceptable.
Overall, our experience at this restaurant was a complete disaster. The food was subpar, the service was negligent, and the surprise addition to the bill was simply outrageous. I would strongly advise against dining at this establishment. Save yourself the disappointment and choose a different...
Read morePoornima was the first place we saw to pop in for a cup of masala tea and a quick brunch before our shopping spree. We had some Aloo paratha and dahi wada. After we finished shopping, we loved the food and the place so much that we came back for dinner before heading home. We had the mixed grill -recommendation by Sachin, our waiter, who was very helpful and patient with us. The mixed grill had chicken wings, chicken tikka, lamb chops, and kebabs, plus we had a daal makhni and paratha. There was plenty of food for the 3 of us. To enjoy all this in a typically Indian way, we had a mango lassi and a salty lassi. Oh, and not to mention, this place is highly recommended by Mr Asad Ahmed, our famous news reader, whom we had the pleasure of meeting whilst having our brunch. What a lovely, humble man. The wait for the food can be long, but it is so worth it. This will be our go-to place...
