I frequent this establishment several times a week with my dog. We have a little break here midway on our walk, sometimes twice in a day and the staff have mostly been friendly and my dog likes the attention from other customers.
However, upon our last visit, I was slightly peckish and ordered a side dish as was out for a meal later. There must have only been 15 other customers in, only 2 eating. I don't know if others had ordered but there were no big groups and it wasn't peak time. After 25 minutes my "small side dish" had still not arrived.
I asked the young lady behind the bar what the was delay, she said it won't be long now (without checking). I said it's been at least 25 minutes, your not busy and I need to go now. I only ordered as you are quiet. I requested she return my money as I shall get something elsewhere on the way home. She did not agree at first then eventually did. SHE THEN SAID SHE HAS TO ASK ME TO LEAVE NOW! Seriously?
Without protest I agreed as I could not be bothered to argue and was leaving anyway. I have never spent less than twenty odd pounds at this watering hole and usually is considerably more. This instance was 34 Pounds and was just myself...
I cannot get over the fact I was asked to leave due to their lack of service! I was not angry or rude, merely questioned.
I am seriously considering contacting the brewery and informing my 640k odd followers on my social media platforms.
Firstly I shall give the 'house' the chance to reply.
I have never been asked to leave an establishment in my life and would never have thought it would be...
Read moreHi. Lovely venue. It just felt like the customer was a burden too often. Smiles, pleases and thank yous were sparing at best, unless the customer was known. One customer ordered a drink, it was misheard and a different beverage was poured. On discovering such, the staff member accused the customer of saying a different drink - no apology - and begrudgingly poured the other drink. That's the salient example of customers being a burden. Whilst the team camaraderie behind the bar was strong, there was an imbalance of genders - all being one gender. Such a balance could have made one feel more at home, rather than being a burden. The key verb is 'to serve', rather than 'to boss'. There was also inconsistency in some customers being served immediately, and others having to try four times to get the staff's attention. Maybe two stars is harsh, but certainly no more than 3, as I spent around £25 and was made to feel very...
Read moreI had the great pleasure of watching the women's world cup final here today with some friends.
Unlike some pubs I know this pub has been open for every women's game so far but it wasn't until today I was able to get to the pub to watch one of the games. It's great to know they have been supporting the women's team the whole way through and not just jump on the bandwagon of the final.
I got there early enough to have a full english which really hit the spot. A great portion size and was great value for money.
The staff were friendly and welcoming and helped to create a cheery atmosphere along with some good songs to get everyone in the mood. I can imagine they were a lot busier than usual considering but you couldn't tell as I never had to wait long to get a drink at the bar or when we ordered through the app.
Certainly my favourite pub in Wimbledon and one I will continue to watch my sport...
