Have been seeing some promotions of this place on Instagram and once I found out it's run by Hong Kongers who have their first shop in HK I thought I had to pay a visit asap since that's where I am from so I want to show support.
I went on a sunny Saturday afternoon avoiding the busy hours and got there around 3pm. I was very glad to see an almost empty ramen shop which was perfect for a solo lunch and I got seated at one of high chairs closest to the entrance. There's no physical menu instead it's accessed via a QR code in front of your seat. There are only 5 ramen options so it's a very easy decision for me to go for the creamy chicken ramen since that's what they are known for. It came very quickly given it's not busy.
I had a sip of the broth first, as I always do with ramen and was happy with the taste - creamy, rich and savoury, although slightly too salty for me personally. It came with a lot of burdock which added very nicely to the texture together with the broth and noodles and I really liked the crunchy spring onion. Ramen noodles weren't my preference but they were al dente, just how I like them. The chashu was soft and tender and the tamago was nicely marinated with a slight raw egg yolk which was perfect.
Service was alright, given the menu was digital I didn't really interact with the staff apart from asking for some tap water and the bill. The grand total came to £18.90 including service charge which is slightly more expensive than I had expected.
Overall, I enjoyed my time here and was happy with the food experience I got although I wouldn't say it's mind-blowing or...
Read moreThis is one of the best ramens I've had in London! (bear in mind I don't really have pork-based ramens)
Managed to walk in at 7pm and get a table for three people. You can't make a reservation here but there wasn't a line when I came on a Saturday evening.
Started with the chicken karaage. The pieces were juicy and tender with a beautiful crispy coating. Perfectly seasoned and would order again.
Also got the deep-fried shrimp rolls. The sauce was such a great part of the dish. We liked it so much we got two of them.
I got the spicy miso ramen without the pork. It was fantastic! It was a rich and flavourful broth with a subtle creamy texture that wasn't too oily, had a lovely umami taste, and nice level of spice to it. The egg was the perfect ramen egg with a jammy yolk in it. The noodle had a nice firmness to it and tasted really fresh. The chicken was really tender. All the elements balanced together perfectly and did not make me feel too heavy.
My only negatives are that I wasn't a fan of the onigiri so wouldn't order that again and the seating was very traditionally close knit. I had hardly any space to manoeuvre. But very minor. It's also a little pricey but think standard for central London.
I tasted the spicy creamy chicken ramen and that was lovely ( low-key a little better than mine). So I really want to go back! Would highly recommend going here for a chicken...
Read moreHad dinner at Ramen Moto on a weekday and there was no queue. I was seated after waiting 5 minutes. Ordered the creamy chicken ramen and fried squid.
Creamy chicken ramen (5/5 ⭐️ ) (£17): The ramen broth was indeed very creamy, with foam visible on the surface, thick bodied. You could taste the blend of chicken and pork in the broth, it was seasoned just right with slight sweetness and saltiness. The ramen noodle texture was slightly thick but bouncy. The broth hung onto the noodles and make each noodle flavourful but the wheat flavour of the noodles were completely overwhelmed. The egg was boiled just right. The ramen also came with a piece of pork and chicken chashu. The pork chashu was slightly smoked and very thinly sliced, tasted similar to a very thin and soft bacon. The chicken chashu was very soft, tender and juicy. Overall very good.
Fried squid (4.5/5 ⭐️) (£8): it came with 5 pieces and came in hot. Condiments include Japanese mayo, a piece of lime and a pile of seven spice powder. Each squid was already dusted with seven spice powder tho, so adding extra seven spice powder would make it very salty. It didn’t have the crunch that I expect it would, instead it was very soft and remained juicy.
It is a very small and cozy shop and walk in only! Recommend it for party of 1-4. Keep an eye out for their limited...
