I was visiting my sisters in the Sutton area. We went to ,The Slug and Lettuce on the Sunday and Monday. On the Sunday the staff was very vibrant and made it a good atmosphere. Alex who served us was very attentive, and very helpful with helping us choose a non alcoholic drink and making our cocktails just how me and my sister liked it. On the Monday Akex and Dillon or Dill , I think that was his name, they both seemed very happy to be working, you don't get that much nowadays. The food and mocktails were exactly what I specifically asked for. I would definitely recommend to go to The Slug and Lettuce in Sutton.

Went for a drink with a colleague. Lovely pub and restaurant in High Street Sutton. Has outside seating. Staff accommodating. Nice and vibrant interiors. Very good cocktail deals. Bar area is huge with loads of drinks, beers, alcohols to choose from. I recommend this place if you want celebrate special gatherings with families, friends and colleagues. No parking onsite but parking available near the area. Walking distance from Sutton, London train station. Public transport nearby as well. Affordable and will be back soon.

The food was ok, though I think not much thought and attention was given. We were without any napkins or cutlery until we asked for them the mother's day free drink was forgotten about until we asked for it and the floors and the tables were disgustingly filthy and sticky! The female waiter we had was really lovely and you could tell she was run off her feet doing lots, that can't be faulted. x

Today I went out with my family for a family dinner, we usually went to this bar at a different location so we obviously considered that the place if slug and lettuce we went to was going to be as good as our past experiences.

However, the food was absolutely a disgrace! I have never experienced food this bad before. We ordered a share plate, fish and cod and a sandwich meal, the pictures on the menu looked very appetizing but the actual meal presentation and taste was horrible, the taste was greasy and soggy, the food looked like it was dumped onto the plate with no consideration for the customer. The onion rings we ate did not taste like onion rings, they were so hard, you couldn't even bite into it, it was very greasy, leaving oil all over your hands. The chips that came as a side in all our meals were disgusting, lack of thought into them, the chips were all short and looked burnt, it looked as if someone had already ate from them and the staff just decided to give us leftovers. It wasnt busy there and the food is cheap for a reason. We were going to buy dessert but because of the meal we had before we had already given up on the place and instantly left with no regret. It ruined my day.

I recommend you go somewhere else for a meal but you...

It used to be a good and safe place for us to go out for many years. Now they hired too many bouncers and security stuff (I have counted at least 7) so it creates an impression of a prison rather than a safe place where one can enjoy his/her night out. Last time I saw how two of the heavy and athletic bouncers violently grabbed and hurt a skinny lady who was arguing with them and didn't wan to to leave. Actually from what I saw she was asked to leave unfairly, I saw she was dancing and smiling and then a security guard came and grabbed her into the staircase. She didn't attack anyone. No one has rights for violence particularly to ladies who are generally weak and vulnerable, even if they shout and cry they can not bring much damage to a strong and athletic security guard. In other well respected night clubs they gently take one out and never use a rude force against visitors. I understand that the owners of the S&L can defend their grounds, as they have more power than that poor lady. I'm sure this wasn't the first and last time it happens there. Sadly will have to avoid this...

You know what, the service was lovely. As I approached the bar, I was immediately greeted by a warm smile and enthusiastic assistance. It does go a little downhill from here, though. There was not a huge selection of beers and spirits and they really tried to push their cocktails. Personally, if I fancy a cocktail, I will ask. Having said that, the drinks we did order were priced reasonably. Next, we decided to order some food, you go to the bar after perusing a menu at your table to order. This was straightforward enough and to be expected in most pubs that serve food. The food was then served very quickly (it was not busy), and I had the sirloin steak cooked medium rare. I swear, I have never had a chewier, tougher sirloin than this. The cook to medium rare seemed to be executed well enough but it must have been a very cheap grade of beef. It was served with what looked like pre frozen peas and fries with sun blushed tomatoes and a fairly watery whisky sauce. I don't mind paying a little more for a half decent steak. I would suggest they invest in a better grade of beef...
