If you're considering stopping by Benugo in Regent's Park, do yourself a favor and avoid it entirely. I visited on what seemed like a quiet day, expecting a simple, straightforward experience. My order? Nothing more than a mocha, a cappuccino, and a piece of cake. What I got was a disaster from start to finish.
Firstly, the baristas were more interested in chatting among themselves than doing their jobs. I had to ask three different people for a fork, only to be lazily pointed to a location without any forks. Eventually, I managed to find one, only for it to be filthy. The female supervisor seemed to be the only person with a shred of competence, but even her efforts couldn’t salvage this mess.
When I took the drinks outside, I was met with what can only be described as utter garbage. The mocha was indistinguishable from dishwater, and the cappuccino? It might as well have been milk froth pretending to be coffee—no flavor, no quality, no care.
Annoyed, I returned the drinks—something I almost never do—explaining to a male barista just how horrendous they were. He remade them, and while the cappuccino was passable, the "mocha" still failed miserably, tasting like a weak coffee with barely any chocolate.
To top it off, the young female baristas had the audacity to talk about me in their first language, clearly in a derogatory way. This kind of unprofessionalism is unacceptable in any establishment, especially one that charges what Benugo does.
This place is busy solely because of its prime location in Regent's Park, but don't be fooled. The service is atrocious, the drinks are substandard, and the staff is disrespectful. I only refrained from going back in to complain again because I didn't want to ruin my entire day. But honestly? Save yourself the frustration and take your money elsewhere. Benugo can’t even get the basics right. I would appreciate speaking with someone about the experience. The two younger baristas should be reprimanded.

Read moreOutstanding quality food which is pleasantly surprising given the humble cafe aesthetic.
Ate a late lunch here and we shared an adult pepperoni pizza and the cheeseburger (which came with chips). They were both absolutely delicious!
The burger was juicy, done medium well and was perfectly accompanied by the garnish/salad/bun. The chips that came with it were not too salty and beautifully crispy. Honestly I struggle to remember having a better "premium burger".
The pizza's mozzarella was mouthwateringly good. Excellent flavour for the pizza all around and it was cooked to perfection, crispy but not burnt.
The service at the café was excellent. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful.
Regarding coffee/drinks: We got an iced mocha to go and it was great! The coffee in general isn't earth shattering but it is pleasant.
In terms of downsides, there are a handful but none of them are major in my eyes. If you sit outside, watch out for the local pigeons. They are fearless and will chance at pecking at crumbs on the floor around you Regarding the pigeons, some of the tables outside might have some pigeon droppings on them :( Best find a clean table or sit inside The online ordering system is very frustrating, the back button doesn't work properly. I would highly recommend you just order inside.
Overall, I really enjoyed the place and I look forward to going back.

Read moreVisited 22-Jul @ 6pm. Terrible place. Staff are rude and careless, the food is overpriced and made me ill. They said they had decided to close the kitchen early "because it wasn't busy" despite this obviously not being the case especially as there was a sell out show in the park theatre nearby. I asked if there was anywhere around the theatre that would still be serving food and the lady said no, there is nothing else around. She even asked her colleague next to her who agreed that there was no where else to buy food anywhere else nearby. They reluctantly made us only one pizza when we had asked for two because there was three of us so we had to make do with that and snacks. After an age of waiting for it to be delivered to the table (they asked for the table number), I walked back to counter to find that my grossly over priced pizza was going cold on a shelf next to a row of other pizzas. When I found out too late that they do still serve good food at the theatre and told the lady that we could have all got what we wanted there had she not told us otherwise, she just shrugged, no apology. Around the same time there was another lady finding her pizza being told that she wasn't allowed to sit down because they had barricaded off most of the seats.
Reading through other reviews, I can see that several people have been giving similar feedback for months and nothing has changed. Very strange for a business in such a...
