So Here it is from the horses mouth... The secret is well and truly out now.

Best lunch time curry deals in this side of central London. Best pricing ,for best quality cooking. Flavors are tasty and food is fresh, tandoori naans are soft with flaky parts, mmm.

Westminster University students on Marlyebone road and Baker Street and The London Business School students your lunch time secret, is now well and truly out.

I have lived all my life in the Marble Arch and Baker Street neighborhood, apart from a some years living and working around the world.

This place Mumtaz, Kundan and Gaylord were THE Restrauants back in the day. I was very fortunate to be taken to all of them as a child and grew up on their fabulously delicious dishes. Time went by and tastes changed, people moved on. BUT, this place, has always maintained a good level of cooking. Hence it is still here.

So, after many years of driving by I stopped and went in. Memories flooded back, but I was there for the food, It didn’t disappoint. Then for the last couple of years I have been eating here regularly. Especially for the best curry lunch time deals anywhere this side of central London. Hassan has looked after me ever since, the staff are accommodating.

Decent flavorful food, like home cooked. Very importantly they use the right blend of spices, the right quality of spices here to create a delicious depth of flavor. If you like your curries swimming in oil and heavy oil, so hot and chilli you cannot taste anything else, dense thick gloopy cream curries, then this place is NOT for you. Here it is light, not over powering, some dishes one can even say delicate flavors. Just stick to well known dishes and the best lunch time deals .

Try the chicken or lamb curry thali in the lunch time offer currently and you will get a good idea of the decent quality of this place.

They change the deals regularly to keep it fresh. The previous deal of lamb kebab roll (rolls are big and filling) with salad and sauce under 6£. Good flavor and fresh tandoori naan. Chicken tikka roll (tender chicken) salad sauce and fresh tandoori naan 5 and a half. Come on, top end of W1 Baker Street area?

Latest deal I had today, a thali of chicken curry and two chicken tandoori cubes, rice and salad and green Chutney all for under a tenner. Good value. Even knowing this place and it’s good quality, I was surprised by just how good the lunch time thali was. In particular the chicken curry. The chicken was so tender, not oily, and the sauce was just thick enough to hug the tender chicken pieces. You know a curry is so good that you can just spoon it straight in your mouth. No rice or naan needed. Nice, really nice. Fresh cooking, home cooked flavors, and good portions all from a central London restaurant.

They have the same thali in Lamb (lamb curry and lamb kabab rice etc) and a vegetarian option too. This place was serving proper Indian vegetarian dishes back in the 70s so it’s not an after thought or an inconvenient add on. What more could one really ask for. Give the place a try, you might be...

I hadn't come here since I was a child. I am in my forties now. I was in London and had been fasting all day so stopped here for dinner. I had a good experience compared to some of the reviews. Beautiful, elegant restaurant. Nice peaceful atmosphere but kind of dead in a way too. Never busy. Clean. Very big and spacious. Perfect for a 'quiet' dinner but depends on how quiet you want it. I was glad for the peace as I had a busy day but would normally prefer something with more of a vibe. I got a lovely table by the window overlooking the busy road outside. I ordered the Karahi Murg which is a speciality of Lahore, diced boneless chicken, stir fried with tomatoes, onions and capsicums. This was served in a Karahi (traditional iron pot). I had a Tandoori Roti with it, and some poppadoms which were served with chutneys. To drink I had a Diet Coke. I also had a Matka Kulfi to finish. Food was lovely. I couldn't complain. Nicely presented and freshly prepared. Curry was lovely and not too overly spiced. The roti was fine and not greasy or like cardboard like you sometimes get in some restaurants. The Matka Kulfi was perfect to end. Refreshing with the right balance of sweetness. Not too pricey given the area. Service was pleasant and friendly. Attentive, yet the staff left you to enjoy your meal in peace. I would say if you are in the area, then yes, but not worthy of a...

Came here on recommendation of my taxi, after visiting Lords cricket ground.

Food: Overall average. Aloo papdi chaat was below average. Too much imli (tamarind), and no papdi. Matar paneer was good, more home style. Daal masala was decent. How, roti was bad. Tandoori roti is supposed to be whole wheat flour and not Maida. It was thick and chewy because of refined flour. Order normal roti, which also was quite thick. Chicken biriyani my friend had always decent - not bad not good.

Service: Below par. We were only customers in the restaurant. Hardly any attention. Everyone was busy attending to loading of goods, restaurant upkeep matters etc. No one came asking for more water, additional items to order, desserts menu or anything else. At the start I told them I want Chai at the end of meal. Promptly, they did t remember or care...got me bill. I paid and left

Overall, disappointing experience. Food was average but...

Booked Mumtaz India Restaurant online as going to Marylebone Theatre opposite for pre show dinner, the booking went pending reservation approval, I waited and waited, no approval from Mumtaz so called on the day and they took booking over phone. We arrived as they opened and only one other couple were there for the hour and 15 minutes so as large place left it as no atmosphere. The place has elaborate decor but looking little tired. The Staff were friendly and attentive. Couple of little mishap, not worth a mention. The food was fine and fairly priced except to me the Sagg paneer side at £9.50, it's only spinach and cheese. There is a sign of cash only, which we did pay cash but we don't carry much so they did say they had a card machine that they could try if we didn't have enough. Always supisus of large place that only want cash. They add 12.5% service charge. I wouldn't rush back.

This was place was extremely average. The servers were nice but a little bit forceful on trying to sell us drinks and extra food when all we were after was a straightforward dinner. The food was average. Starters were good but the speed with which they came out was concerning and on tasting them they had clearly just been flash fried or microwaved from chilled. The Mains again were disappointing the chicken was very dry and sauces a bit bland with the rice portion being a bit small. I wish places wouldn't offer Groupon deals only then to be almost grumpy that you're taking them up on the offer. Maybe if you're paying full price you get a different experience but I'm doubtful of this. The final point was on exit we were presented a bill with zero cost but an arbitrary £4 service charge which kind of came from nowhere
