Disappointing Experience – Won’t Be Returning
Visited with my wife after reserving a table in advance. Upon arrival, we waited around 5 minutes as a customer was already in the middle of a complaint. These things happen, so we didn’t think much of it.
Unfortunately, our experience only went downhill from there. The table we were seated at was not clean—there were rice grains on the surface, and it was noticeably sticky, which was not a good first impression.
It took about 25 minutes before we were able to place our order, clearly due to the restaurant being understaffed. I ordered a martini for my wife, which was served warm. We had to ask for ice just to make it drinkable—not what you’d expect.
Given the beautiful location in Richmond, it was disappointing to see they used cheap-looking plastic melamine plates. We ordered a platter and two mains. The starters were underwhelming—soggy spring rolls, slightly better squid, and overcooked, dry fried chicken.
When the mains arrived, the used plates from our starters still hadn’t been cleared, and no one offered to replace them. The service overall was chaotic and disorganised, clearly affected by the lack of staff.
The mains themselves were overly greasy. We proceeded to pay, only to find that cash wasn’t accepted, which wasn’t mentioned beforehand.
Overall, we were very dissatisfied and disappointed. We had hoped to try something new, but unfortunately, this visit didn’t live up to expectations. We’ll be returning to our usual Thai...
Read moreVery poor experience. It is clear the staff on the day we visited were inexperienced and poorly managed. The wait staff were largely stood around looking confused, and did not show any initiative to clear tables, make drinks, clean anything, nor actually look around to see if anyone was trying to get their attention (people were).
It took us 25 minutes to have our order taken. I then had to remind the team twice to bring our drinks, which we didn't receive until we had finished our starters.
We then had to ask for mains as there had been a ~20 minute wait since we had finished our starters. It was clear they forgot to send for the mains, as once we had asked, manager started shouting into the kitchen from across the restaurant, then served us undercooked noodles and told us the food was "rushed".
We were also served a ramen that was cool/lukewarm at best, and greens that had been absolutely drowned in sauce and chili flakes - clearly thrown together carelessly by someone in a hurry.
I am not sure what he was thinking, but when I am paying for food in a restaurant, I absolutely don't want it rushed - I want it good.
We also nearly left without paying as by this point the restaurant had emptied somewhat and we could not find a staff member to request the bill from for a good ten minutes.
This was a really disappointing visit only because we know this is a decent restaurant - just let down by a manager that either didn't know how to manage a shift, or just didn't care - I couldn't...
Read moreA lovely restaurant on the high street newly decorated.
We were greeted by a host who I believe is new (not an issue), however before we were even seated, we were asked if we had any food allergies which we would had preferred if we sat down first before asking us (unless this is the company way of greeting their guests).
The food: Put it this way the food was so so, I’ve defiantly had much better Thai, Ordered popcorn prawns, Tom Yum soup noodles, summer roll, papaya salad and a chilli &basil aubergine dish.
Loved: papaya salad Edible : popcorn prawns, aubergine dish (needed to cook a little longer) Tom Yum Noodle Soup (this is what I refer to as I’ve had better) Not for me: summer roll ( the rice wrap was way too think so it felt as if there was a ball of rice dough inside the wrap so worth using a smaller size rice paper or stuff it bigger)
The team: The staff are friendly but can tell their new which everyone has to start somewhere so no comment on this really.
I asked for the bill and asked the staff member to take the service charge as I wanted to see if the manager would come to and ask, but no one came or wasn’t bothered to come and find out why. So be it.
Unfortunately not...
