We went here because it was recommended to us by my brother. Recently refurbished (which is how he new about it), used to be an "old school" london pub before I believe (so ignore the review which mentions football and pool table).

It is now a really trendy place to go, nice decor and staff are just how they should be - looking after you without being in your face.

The food is TO DIE for. Whoever the chef is - hats off. Great menu - I WILL RETURN to try everything on the menu!!

I only gave very good for atmosphere because it wasn't that full when we visited, but it had only be open a week or so. Plus they cleverly put all diners in one area which helped create an atmosphere before we left (we did eat quite early on a Sunday, might have been why) - so maybe I'm a touch harsh perhaps. Think it will be buzzing within a few weeks. When we go back I'd like to dine in the restaurant area (you can see the chef cooking) I'm a bit of a foodie so would like that.

TOP TIP: Pork Po'boy is a...

The Royal Star on the corner of Mora Street is a fine pub. Staff are lovely, service is good and the building is lovely, love the back room and also the wine cages (What did the wine do to get locked up like that?). The reasons for 3 stars are, firstly the lack of real (cask) ale or some equivalent in a bottle. There may be good reasons for this but it does alienate part of the drinking community. Second, the lack of WiFi loses a star. I am posting on a social media platform, therefore data transference is required. Further to this we are asked to like, follow, contact via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. This makes no sense. Embrace or abandon. Still, let me recommend this pub for a visit, it's a good pub!...

Had my last day visit at Royal Star, Old Street—and it turned out to be one to remember. I went for the onion & mushroom , beef steak pie, and while I’d ordered onion & mushroom pie, chips arrived instead—classic busy day mix-up.

Farjana, who was working front-of-house that day, handled it with quiet efficiency. Even though the place was packed and she couldn’t stop for long, she made sure the mix-up was sorted in no time. That simple gesture added a personal touch that meant more than it might’ve seemed.

Tasty food, good vibes, and a little moment I’ll carry with me. Definitely recommend if you’re...

Very nice friendly pub. Amazing pizza which was a suprise first time! I now order pizza via phone and collect instead of ordering a takeaway from elsewhere because of the quality and the price. There is a gluten free option of pizza as well. Photo shows gluten free in foreground and normal in the background. Burgers was also good. There's also a bottomless brunch and a good pub quiz on Tuesdays. Overall great place.

We had a really nice time here. We loved the music and vibe. All of the employees were friendly and the food came out quickly. Our drinks and pizza were great and we’d order all of them again. My partner loved adding the chilli oil to his half. We would definitely come back the next time we are in the neighborhood.
