Last time we were here was 3 years ago and both service and food was below average (compared to that from the past years) However we came back to try dim sum at Saikei again on 9th April and was pleased to find that the restaurant has improved on food seasoning and service was friendlier. However, prices have increased by at least £1 to £3 per dish. (See menu photos to compare). Teapot is charged at £1.50 per person. You will also have to ask for the chilli oil & sauce/other table condiments. The seating system is by you come in & tell front of house person in charge how many people dining and will then be handed a ticket number (keep this safe as you will need to give it to the person calling your number to be seated). There are a few seats in the waiting area. NOTE: it is not 1st come, 1st serve. Other groups or people will be seated before you even if they came after you as they go by the vacant table by number of seats/people: a big group may be seated before a couple or vice versa. Plenty of (pay online) onsite parking - instructions are clearly displayed outside, around the restaurant & on the menu. But if you can walk (about 10 mins), you can park in the nearby Odeon/pizza hut/B&Q/IKEA car park (free parking for 5hrs every day). Ordering is by marking the quantity required by the dish you want on the paper provided once seated. Any other dishes (not on the dim sum menu but you know is on the dinner menu) may be requested when the waiter/waitress comes to take the ordering paper. The bill has automatically added the service charge on it. Sakei also has takeaway service for their food/dim sum as well as the special whole suckling pig.

Poor customer service, some food ok but prep & hygiene questionable! - Not my regular dim sum place but decided to try after a few years as we happened to be local. Went for lunch on a monday so it was quiet but upon arrival all the servers didn't even acknowledge us so first impression wasn't great. - After finally being seated although there were only about 10 tables aside from us it was difficult to get someone's attention to take our order. - While waiting for the food I noticed the spoon set on my place had some crusty old food stuck on it, not entirely shocked at this point. Luckily there were spare cutlery on the table so didn't have to go through the hurdle of getting someone to change it. We gave all our cutlery a good rinse with hot water before using it! - After browsing the menu we noticed that they don't serve deep fried squid which is a dim sum staple and a favourite of my daughter's so that was disappointing. - The dim sum we ordered was generally good but decided to top up with an order of ho fun stir fried with 3 roast meats.. wish we hadn't as the dish was strangely sweet and the ho fun wasn't particularly hot considering it had just come out of the kitchen. To top it off my mum also found a piece of plastic styrofoam in it! - Everything combined and what appears to be a minimum charge of £3.50 for parking regardless of the duration I won't be returning to this place.

I am from HK and this dim sum place serves authentic dishes like from home. Price is reasonable but service is hit and miss depending on your table location, plenty of staff around but restaurant is always packed full at weekends. Be nice to your waiter and call them “靚姐 靚仔” does help to get their attention with your visit. Parking is shared with the holiday inn and again always packed at weekends, pay via phone app as no machine and no free parking. Very close to the old “see woo” Chinese grocery store (now re branded to more Japanese grocery) and there is a 豆腐花 dessert take away place in the industrial estate next to that. For non Chinese speaking/writing visitor they have menu with English and picture. You order by ticking the boxes on your table ticket which has number reference to the item on the photo menu so don’t worry. Lots of waiters around so there will someone who can take order in English but imagine all 60+ table full it is a bit hectic if they need to explain each dishes etc My favourite dim sum place for 15 years

I came with a group of friends for a birthday. We were sat immediately, and began ordering starters. I got the Deep Fried Squid in Butter and Garlic, which was delicious. Everyone else said the same for their starters. Then I ordered my main. I got the Sea Bass, which was £32 for a small portion. When they brought it over, it was a mess. They had cut it open and gotten rid of almost all the meat, leaving about 70%-80% bone. They asked if I would like it deboned, I said yes and then had to wait five minutes. They returned it, still with at least half the bones in it and the head attached still. They asked if I would like the head removed, I said yes. I then had to wait another five minutes again. Once they returned it I tried the fish, and it tasted like wet cardboard. I added the soy sauce they gave me, which did not help the texture or taste.

I asked if they could take it back, as the portion size was ridiculous for £32 and the taste wasn't pleasant. The waiter seemed very offended and began urging me to try it again and that it would be a waste of food. I told her I don't mind paying for it still and apologised, so it's not a waste and that I wouldn't want anything in replacement. By this point several staff members had gathered near the table to see what was going on, and why this waiter wouldn't take my meal.

My friend then gave me some of her chow mein, which was fantastic. But during the rest of our dinner, the several staff members hung around our table and gossiped and gave me dirty looks. Whilst we were paying, the waiter was rushing us and overcharged me for multiple drinks I did not have. As we left, they again gave me dirty looks until I had left the building.

Overall, food is quite good depending on what you get, but if you dislike something the service turns horrible. The decorations were very nice and it was quiet, but the experience was ruined after they seemed to become very upset I didn't like a dish. Would not recommend just for the...

£700 bill and really not much to show for. The service was appalling, we kept on asking for more drinks, clear our plates, checking on our food, the list is endless. The food was very oily, roast duck and pork was extremely dry. The only good dish was the aubergines which was cooked exceptionally well. If it wasn’t for this, I would have given the review 1 star. Will not be my go to place, prices are steep for poor quality food and terrible service. They add 10% service charge, I wouldn’t have given this, however my parents being Chinese didn’t want to cause a fuss, if it was down to me, I wouldn’t have left them a tip let alone £65! Some serious training needs to be provided to improve their customer service. Firstly be greeting customers with a smile

Update review/ if only there is an option for 0 star! We visited for dim sum on a Friday afternoon, decided to revisit for lunch convenient meeting point and parking on site. The service was terrible from start to finish, 4 members of staff standing around talking, and waved to me to come in! Is this how you greet customers? When seated and good choices chosen we were totally ignored and had to ask for a member of staff to take our order. Food arrived and was literally thrown onto the table, roast pork noodles was extremely greasy and the meat tasted like rubber, the pork puff pastry was soft and soggy, staff was so rude, no smiles from a single member of staff. Couldn’t even order a drink as one was busy watching football, another to comfy leaning against a wooden plank, two others talking away and one lady just staring at you like you are asking for to much. On paying the bill, I told the guy watching football to remove the service charge, he looked at me blankly and then let out a sigh. I have no idea if these staff are being managed, they looked like they were able to do what they wanted. I will avoid this place and drive to Yiban, yes it is further but you get the quality...

I've only been to UK for a few months. My family is originally from HK and I've lived there for 7 years in my adulthood. I can definitely say I'll be coming back because a lot of the dimsum actually tastes like it is in Hong Kong.

I've ordered har gao (prawn dumplings), siu mai (pork&crab dumplings), char siu bao (roasted pork buns), nai won bao (custard bun), malay cake (steamed sponge cake), siu lun bao (shanghai buns / xiao long bao), lo bah go (turnip paste cake), egg tarts, and yow cha gwai / fry dough cheung fun. All of them tastes legitimate like it would in HK except for the custard bun, xiao long bao, and fry dough cheung fun. The custard bun was because of our ridiculous standards of having a runny yolk variation in HK, but it was pretty good like the ones you'd find in custard bread in bakeries there. The xiaolongbao didn't have a lot of soup in it as I wished it had but otherwise okay, and the cheung fun was not properly cut and/or the fry dough wasn't fresh. But overall, I would visit again because everything was on point, just as it would be if I was doing yumcha with my family.

I see a lot of other reviews saying that the service is bad but honestly, it is just the authentic experience type of service you'd get in Hong Kong. Are you even in a HK restaurant if the waiters are pretending to not see you? Sure, the waiters might not be too responsive or making sure everything's good like western restaurants, but I gotten way better service here than I would ever eating dimsum in Hong Kong. They actually acknowledge my requests and go get it done, and they are not being impatient and yelling at me (like in HK). So as far as service go, you are getting the real deal, and embrace the fact they...
