Eat Fan, North Greenwich: A Quick Bite with Mixed Results
Located just a 9/10 mintues walk from North Greenwich underground station, Eat Fan offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The decor is ambient, creating a pleasant dining experience. While the service was decent, it could have been more attentive.
The Chicken Katsu Curry was unfortunately a disappointment. The curry sauce was too watery, lacking depth of flavor, and the Panko crumbs were of low quality. Additionally, the garlic-infused broccoli was barely noticeable.
The Chicken & Vegetable Gyoza, while pan-fried, were clearly not made in-house but rather taken from a frozen packet. A major food crime was committed by not offering a traditional dumpling vinegar sauce, leaving only a spicy mayo sauce to be shared between this dish and the Taiwanese Fried Chicken.
Speaking of the Taiwanese Fried Chicken, it was the standout dish, well-seasoned and satisfying.
Parking is available nearby, but it might be residential, so keep that in mind. The total cost for the meal was £29.50, including a can of coke.
They are available on Just Eat, Uber Eats not sure about Deliveroo
While Eat Fan is a convenient option for a quick bite in North Greenwich, the food doesn't offer anything particularly exciting. If you're looking for authentic Asian cuisine, you might want to explore other options...
Read moreA few minutes walk from the O2, located in a soulless high rise residential area, is this one standalone pan Asian restaurant. Parking is available roadside but at £6.40 for two hours, it adds a ridiculous tariff to the meal if you are driving here.
The atmosphere inside is low volume, relaxing music but there were no other diners. Decor is neat and today but again, a little soulless.
The food options are quite plentiful but mainly rice dishes top the menu. We tried spring rolls which are apparently home made. They were fine but I was unsure if from a packet or really home made.
The main dishes of Taiwanese pork and Kung Pao chicken were bland. The chicken was too dry and main dish so you need to add a lot of soy sauce to get proper flavour. The pak choi was just boiled, it had zero flavour so again I had to whack on the soy sauce to get anything out of it. This is pretty basic stuff.
For two of us, sharing a starter, two main dishes and no drinks came to £33 but with parking (not restaurant’s fault) it was £40 for a pretty low key lunch. They do takeaway too but there are far better Asian takeaways locally.
I won’t be returning as I think it’s pretty poor value. Service was fine. Just too much of a meh,...
Read moreWe came here when it first opened and was quite excited, the concept of quick classic authentic asian food was appealing and it delivered to a degree. for whatever reason we haven't been back since so we thought we'd visit again recently.
Sadly, standards have slipped through the menu is the same, we got 4 dishes and all 4 clearly were simply reheated meals. The pork dishes which should usually be saucy were super dry. i went for a meal combo which was a Japanese looking katsu sandwich with a ice coffee. looked great in the picture. but when i ordered they had no coffee or any nice alternatives, just the usual soft drinks you get in most Western cafes. when the sandwich came, it was literally on standard white thin bread from the co op next door.
it wasn't inedible, but didn't match the picture. Other minor gripes, cutlery was help yourself but half were not clean. They also didn't have enough cups for water and that also ran out. The standards must be better if they want to do well, it's a good location. we left dissapointed and sadly won't be back.
Parking outside is £5 for...
